Promising voices

The final round of the 19th Dream Kite Award - 2025 has just taken place at Thanh Thieu Nien Park (Tuy Hoa City). The school with many achievements in Tay Hoa land - Le Hong Phong High School reaped a bountiful harvest when 2 students of the school, Ngo Thi Minh Kha, class 11A2 and Phan Van Huy, class 12A12, excellently won the male and female championships in the singing category. "This is a very surprising and great joy not only for Kha and Huy, but also for the teachers and students of Le Hong Phong High School. This award will give them more confidence in their journey to pursue their passion for singing; at the same time, it will also motivate other students to strive", said Ms. Tran Thi Le Thuy, Principal of Le Hong Phong High School.

Both Kha and Huy were born in the land of Hoa My Dong, a land rich in tradition. While Kha impressed with her clear, high-pitched and emotional female voice, Huy asserted himself with his warm, powerful male voice. Although both were born and raised in families without a musical tradition, they showed artistic talent from an early age. Their passion began to grow when they studied at Le Hong Phong High School, participating and winning high prizes in art competitions organized by the school.

Kha and Huy first participated in the Dream Kite Award in 2024. Kha stopped in the qualifying round, while Huy did not make it to the finals. The failure did not discourage the two students, but instead motivated them to conquer the hearts of the judges and the audience in the following years' awards. Kha and Huy began to seek out teacher Luu Quoc Thien to practice their voices and improve their techniques. They also participated in many competitions and art programs at school to practice their confidence and stage skills.

In the final night of the Dream Kite Award, Kha performed the song “On Phu Van Peak” with a high-pitched, magical voice; while Huy showed off his warm voice with the song “Starry City Night”. “Burning” themselves out on stage, the two students brought the best performances, touching the hearts of the judges and leaving many impressions on the audience. Huy shared: “The review schedule for the final exams is quite busy, so I don’t have much time to invest in practicing. However, I still tried to overcome the pressure to perform my best. Luckily, my efforts brought sweet results.”

Kha confided: “Last year, I couldn’t even pass the qualifying round of the Dream Kite Award. Therefore, this year’s first prize is a huge reward. Even more joyful is that I have conquered myself. This award gives me more motivation to pursue Music Education.”
