Beware of scams and blackmail with face-spoofing software that costs only 25-30 USD

At the 2025 Vietnam Talent Awards Exchange Program "AI Wave - Opportunities and Challenges" held on May 19 at the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, cybersecurity expert Ngo Minh Hieu (Hieu PC), Director of the Anti-Fraud Project, recommended that people be careful to avoid disclosing personal information.

According to Mr. Hieu, there are many cases of cyber fraud through the use of AI tools such as deepfake, scammers extorting money or cropping images. Using AI to create fraudulent websites, create malicious viruses, phishing emails...

Through the process of infiltrating criminal groups on social networks, Mr. Hieu said that the trick of fraud groups on social networks is to buy fake deepfake software at a very cheap price of 25-30 USD/month.

"Even though they don't know the technique, the subjects only need a photo to be able to commit fraud" - Mr. Hieu informed.

Accordingly, social network users, especially young people, need to protect their personal images through a mode that only friends can see, to avoid having their photos taken by people to impersonate them, blackmail them, etc. This is a realistic perspective and warning through security solutions in the AI ​​era.

"AI and Big Data - Breakthrough Technology" is also the theme of the 2025 Vietnam Talent Awards in the digital technology field.

In line with the spirit of Resolution 57 of 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, the Digital Technology award chooses the theme "AI and Big Data - Breakthrough technology", to encourage authors to develop products that effectively apply core technologies such as AI, Big Data, blockchain, and cloud computing.

Mr. Le Manh Hung, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, said that after 17 years of implementation, the Vietnam Talent Award has attracted over 7,500 authors and scientists to participate; more than 3,500 entries; and honored over 210 scientific products and works.

This year, the awards were launched in the following areas: Digital Technology; Creative Youth; Medicine – Pharmacy; Education; Agriculture; Natural Resources and Environment; Encouragement of Learning – Self-learning to become successful. In which, Digital Technology is the core area.

"Products need to be highly practical, actively contributing to the development of digital government, digital economy, digital society, ensuring national security, data safety and supporting state management in many fields," Mr. Le Manh Hung emphasized.

Mr. Nguyen Son Hai, Deputy General Director of VNPT - Media Corporation, commented that the theme of Digital Technology in 2025 represents the breath of the times and contributes to bringing Resolution 57 into life.

He expects the technology community to participate with products and solutions that contribute to solving the nation's major problems.
