Traffic police officer killed by tractor trailer

Ha Nam While checking a four-seater car parked on Highway 21A, Major Luong Thanh Tuan was hit from behind by a tractor-trailer, resulting in his death.

At around 12:20 p.m. on June 14, a working group from the Traffic Police Department of Ha Nam Province Police was on patrol duty on National Highway 21A, passing through Thanh Ha Commune, Thanh Liem District. While checking a four-seater car, Major Tuan, 40, was hit by a tractor-trailer and thrown about 10 meters to the side of the road.

Due to severe injuries, Major Tuan died.

The road where the accident happened is a one-way street with two lanes. Major Tuan stopped to check the four-seater car in the innermost lane close to the roadside.

At the scene, the four-seater car was thrown onto the grass by the roadside, close to a lamppost, the back half of it crumpled. The tractor-trailer driven by 43-year-old Tran Van Luyen was able to steer back to the outside lane. The road surface was covered with blood and vehicle debris.

Ha Nam Provincial Police have detained driver Tran Van Luyen for investigation.
