"Extended arm" in advanced rural development

With many flexible, creative and effective ways of working, the Fatherland Front Committee of Dinh Hoa commune has affirmed itself as the "extended arm" of the Party and the government with the people, contributing to promoting the strength of great national unity, creating a vibrant movement to build new rural areas in the whole commune.

Coming to Tan Sen village these days, we are impressed by the peaceful countryside scene with spacious houses, spacious and clean village roads and alleys, along both sides of the road are green potted plants, bougainvillea, roses... blooming. Together with the villagers, cleaning the village roads and taking care of the ornamental plants, Mr. Le Van Quan, Village Chief, Head of the Front Work Committee of Tan Sen village, said that in 2023, the village was recognized as a model village. This is the result of the efforts of the entire political system, including the important role of the Fatherland Front and organizations in propaganda, mobilization and many flexible ways to create consensus among the people. Since then, local movements and campaigns have been carried out effectively, notably the movement of donating land, demolishing constructions, and cutting down trees to widen roads.

“At first, many people were hesitant and did not agree to donate land in beautiful locations. In that situation, the Party cell and the village front work committee persistently mobilized people and worked simultaneously on roads that needed to be expanded. Thanks to good propaganda work, people understood, agreed to implement, and voluntarily donated land to make their homeland more beautiful. A typical example is Mr. Le Van Quyen's family who donated 200 square meters, demolished fences and fruit trees, so that the dead-end road could now be used to build a new connecting road in the village,” Mr. Quan recounted.

From 2022 to now, Tan Sen villagers have voluntarily contributed 5.1 billion VND, donated nearly 1,000m2 to widen the road from 1.5m to 4m and invested in infrastructure construction. Up to now, 100% of the roads in the village have been concreted, covered drainage ditches, lighting systems installed, and 16 cameras installed on the roads in the village. In addition, investment has been made in the construction of items in the village cultural house and the purchase of full cultural facilities including tables, chairs, televisions, legal bookshelves, etc. with a budget of 424 million VND. Currently, cadres, party members and people in the village are working hard to achieve a smart village by 2026.

Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Dinh Hoa Commune Le Van Long said: "With the motto of "using the people's strength to care for the people", after merging the communes of Dinh Hoa, Dinh Binh, Dinh Thanh, Dinh Cong (old Yen Dinh district) and Tien Nong village, old Thieu Long commune, the Fatherland Front Committee of Dinh Hoa Commune continues to propagate and mobilize people to compete, be creative, and successfully carry out patriotic emulation campaigns and movements in the locality, contributing significantly to the completion of the criteria for building advanced new rural areas in the commune. Typically, mobilizing the community to contribute 112 billion VND, mobilizing people to donate 5,400 square meters of land to expand roads; participating in 16,000 working days to plant and take care of flower streets and clean the environment, plastering fences, dredging sewers, upgrading canals, village roads, alleys...

Responding to the movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - leaving no one behind", the commune's Fatherland Front has mobilized people to contribute to the construction of the "For the Poor" Fund; mobilized and called on businesses and philanthropists to join hands to help the poor; social security work, care for policy families and disadvantaged families have been effectively implemented by the Fatherland Front in close coordination with the government and member organizations. From 2024 to present, the commune has mobilized and supported 31 poor households and households in difficult circumstances to build houses worth 2.4 billion VND; supported people affected by natural disasters and floods with over 280 million VND.

In addition, implementing the campaigns launched by the front, member organizations have proactively and actively deployed patriotic emulation movements and campaigns to a large number of union members, typically: Farmers' Association with the movements "Farmers compete in production, good business, solidarity to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably", "Farmers compete in building new rural areas"; Women's Union with the campaign "building 5 no, 3 clean families", the model "Clean house, beautiful garden", "clean house, model garden"; Youth Union implements "Dinh Hoa Youth join hands to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas"... With the active participation of the Fatherland Front and member organizations, the consensus and response of all classes of people, up to now, the whole commune has 11/22 villages meeting the model new rural standards according to provincial criteria.

Through practical work, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations of Dinh Hoa commune have been affirming their important role in constantly improving the material and spiritual life of the people, contributing to building Dinh Hoa into a livable countryside.
