The club was born from the cooperation between the Ho Chi Minh City Sports Training Center and the Mega Bowl Center, marking the beginning of the Para Bowling movement - a relatively new sport in Vietnam. Under the leadership of Coach Bao Ky, who has been associated with the Ho Chi Minh City Bowling team for many years, the club quickly attracted attention from the community.

After 2 weeks of training, the Bowling club team had the participation of nearly 30 athletes and disabled youth from districts in Ho Chi Minh City participating in training, gradually getting acquainted with the ball, with techniques and with the desire to win in their hearts.
Bowling, which seems to be a sport that requires high physical strength and technique, is proving to be friendly to people with disabilities. Without the need for running, jumping or strong bounces, this sport is still enough to challenge patience, dexterity and strategy.
“Each throw is a dialogue between the body and the will. We are guiding you from how to hold the ball, posture, to throwing techniques suitable for each person’s physical condition. The most important thing is that you feel confident and happy when playing,” added Coach Bao Ky.

Notably, the participants included not only young people but also veteran athletes such as Nguyen Hong Loi, who used to be a “swimmer” in the sports community for people with disabilities. “Even though I switched from swimming to bowling, I was still very excited. The feeling of getting acquainted with a new sport made me feel like I was reliving the beginning of my sports career. The technique of holding and choosing the ball suitable for my body weight is a learning process,” Hong Loi shared.
Open the door to big dreams
Mr. Hong Loi wishes: “I hope that the departments and the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City will continue to expand more sports for people with disabilities. Not only does it help us improve our health, sports are also a way to assert ourselves and reach out to the international arena.”

Not only a sports playground, the club is also a place for members to exchange, connect, and create a close-knit and sharing community. “I learned about the club through the Facebook of a Mr. Nghia from the Ho Chi Minh City Sports Training Center. At first, I just wanted to try it out, but after a few sessions, I felt like I had found a new family. Here, we get to meet, practice, and encourage each other. I really hope the city will have more playgrounds like this,” said Mr. Nguyen Quoc Trung (Binh Tan District) emotionally.
The club’s goal is not just to stop at the movement. According to Coach Bao Ky, outstanding members will be selected to join the Ho Chi Minh City team to compete in national and international tournaments. “We hope to turn this into a professional training center, where people with disabilities can not only play for fun but also go far and compete with friends around the world ,” Coach Bao Ky hopes.

In recent years, the sports movement for people with disabilities in Ho Chi Minh City has shown many signs of improvement. Authorities at all levels and the community are increasingly interested in creating playgrounds, opportunities for integration and improving the quality of life for people with disabilities.
The Para Bowling Club is a living testament to that progress, where the rolling ball not only creates scores but also touches the dreams of each club member's energetic sports journey, spreading the message of energy, inspirational and extraordinary ideals every day.
