Laos and Cambodia fans comment when their team is in the same group with U23 Vietnam

"Why does the Laos team have to face Vietnam? We always lose when we meet them. I don't know who drew the lot, so unlucky," a Laos fan expressed on the Lao Football Federation's fanpage after the draw results for the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship were announced on May 30.

The draw ceremony for the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament held in Bali (Indonesia) determined that the Vietnam U23 team is in Group B, along with the Laos U23 and Cambodia U23 teams.

Vietnam U23 entered this year's tournament as the defending champions. In addition to being crowned in 2023, the red team will also be crowned in 2022.

Khuat Van Khang and his teammates are aiming for their third consecutive regional championship. The 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship is divided into three groups, two groups of three teams and one group of four teams, taking place from July 15 to July 29 in Indonesia. The three group winners and the best second-placed team will advance to the semi-finals.

"It's obvious that the person who drew the lot really loves Vietnam. He just wanted to help Vietnam gain points by putting us in the same group," a Laos fan expressed pessimism about being in the same group with U23 Vietnam.

"It's sad that the Laos team has never defeated the Vietnam team since 1975," another fan said about the disappointing history of the Laos team against Vietnam.

"U23 Vietnam is a team that dares to hold the ball and control the game thanks to its much better technique than our team. We have not even entered the match yet but we already feel scared and lose right from the mentality," another Laos fan expressed.

Meanwhile, Cambodian fans expressed optimism when their team was in the same group with U23 Vietnam and U23 Laos.

"This time, our team will definitely defeat U23 Vietnam. Trust me," commented Sovann Por on the Cambodian Football Federation fanpage.

"We will beat U23 Laos and draw with Vietnam. Good luck to U23 Cambodia," said Mlu Prey.

"In this group, if we can beat U23 Vietnam, that would be good, but the main goal is to beat U23 Laos," Chann Savoeun declared.

"U23 Cambodia is very good now, not like the previous generations, but I believe our team can win both matches. Keep up the good work guys," Rith Micky affirmed.
