Proactive food source
Babeeni Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Gia Loc) is a rare enterprise in the province that is self-sufficient in the majority of clean food supplies for its workers. Instead of ordering from outside, this enterprise arranges a large land fund to grow vegetables, build a chicken and duck farm, and a fish pond. This entire area is assigned to a group of workers to grow and care for on a daily basis.
According to Mr. Doan Manh Hung, Chairman of Babeeni Vietnam Co., Ltd.'s Trade Union, the company always wants each meal of the workers to not only be full and nutritious but also ensure safety and quality. Therefore, the company's Board of Directors is very concerned about the origin of food. In the agricultural area, green vegetables are grown seasonally to ensure freshness and deliciousness. As for chicken, duck, and fish, the company will buy in large quantities from reputable suppliers. Then bring them back to raise them in the traditional way for 2-3 months before processing them for the workers. From this local food source, each day the company can be self-sufficient in about 80% of the ingredients to serve 700 meals per shift.

Not only clean and safe, the nutritional value of meals at Babeeni Vietnam Co., Ltd. is also superior to the average of many businesses in the province. Over the years, this unit has always maintained a meal for employees worth 37,000 - 42,000 VND/meal. On special occasions, the value of the meal can increase 2 - 3 times. The daily menu is also changed by the company according to the season, according to the opinions of the employees. Thanks to that, the health of the staff and workers is guaranteed to maintain production and business activities.
"The fact that businesses take care of everything from vegetable beds to fish and chickens to have a clean food source for workers is something we appreciate. Because for workers, shift meals are the main source of energy to maintain health, work and production, contributing to creating the value of the business. I hope that many businesses in the province will continue to pay attention to and improve shift meals for workers," said worker Do Thi Nguyet.
Instead of hiring an outside unit, Taya Vietnam Electric Wire and Cable Joint Stock Company (Cam Giang) has built its own kitchen team to strictly manage the quality of meals for workers. Every day, the Union Executive Committee will coordinate with the Administration Department to inspect and supervise the import, preservation and processing of food. The company is determined not to let dirty food or food of unknown origin into the kitchen. Thanks to good management, the company has not had any food poisoning incidents for many years.

Mr. Phan Quang Trung, Chairman of the Trade Union of Taya Vietnam Electric Wire and Cable Joint Stock Company said: "Over the years, the company has continuously improved the quality and food rations according to the requirements of workers. To ensure safety, imported food will be processed and used during the day. Thanks to that, shift meals not only ensure adequate nutrition but also create a delicious feeling, suitable for the taste."
Strengthen inspection and supervision
In early June, the Thanh Mien District Health Department coordinated to inspect food hygiene and safety at a number of businesses in the district. At Shints BVT Company Limited in Tu Cuong Commune (Thanh Mien), the delegation supervised shift meals according to a 3-step process: before preparing food, during preparation, and before eating. Through inspection, this business imported food with clear origin and source. The storage and preservation of food samples were strictly implemented, in accordance with regulations. The kitchen and dining areas were arranged reasonably, clean and hygienic...

A representative of Shints BVT Co., Ltd., based in Tu Cuong Commune, said that the company has about 1,000 employees. Over the years, the company has strictly implemented the inspection and supervision of meal quality. To ensure food hygiene and safety, the company only imports raw materials from reputable suppliers with full invoices proving clear origins. Raw materials are carefully inspected before being processed, and poor quality goods or food left overnight are not used. Every day, medical staff will be responsible for preserving and storing food samples according to regulations and will be ready to serve testing when necessary. This is one of the solutions that helps the company proactively control risks, while creating peace of mind for employees.
In recent times, the Provincial Federation of Labor has proactively guided trade unions at all levels to organize negotiations and dialogues with employers to include shift meals in collective labor agreements. Along with that, the work of inspecting and supervising food safety and hygiene at enterprises has been effectively implemented; surveys on employee satisfaction with the quality of shift meals have also been strengthened.
Thanks to that, every year, about 80% of enterprises with trade unions sign collective labor agreements, in which many units commit to supporting the cost of meals for union members and employees from 18,000 to 30,000 VND.
Notably, in recent years, the province has not recorded any cases of food poisoning in the collective kitchens of enterprises with trade unions. This shows that the awareness and responsibility of enterprises are increasingly enhanced in caring for the lives and protecting the rights of workers; at the same time, it affirms the important role of trade unions in supervising and managing the quality of shift meals.
