At Bach Mai Hospital, doctors also performed an emergency cesarean section on the pregnant woman Bach Thi Yen (born in 1990), residing in Hoang Mai district, Hanoi . At around 5:00 p.m. on January 28, at 38 weeks of pregnancy, the pregnant woman showed signs of labor and was taken to the Obstetrics Department for monitoring.

On New Year's Eve 2025, the pregnant woman's water broke and she had to have an emergency cesarean section to remove the fetus. Preparations were urgently carried out.

At 0:45 a.m. on the morning of the first day of the Lunar New Year 2025, specialist doctor II, master Phan Thi Thu Hang, along with the surgical team, successfully performed a surgery to welcome a baby boy weighing 3.1 kg into the world right at the moment of the New Year; both mother and baby are in good health.

According to the mother's family, the expected date of birth was February 14, but due to an unexpected situation, the doctors advised a cesarean section.

Previously, on New Year's Eve, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan visited and wished a happy new year to doctors and medical staff of the Central Maternity Hospital.

Reporting to the Minister on the plan to ensure medical work for the Lunar New Year, People's Physician, Professor, Doctor Nguyen Duy Anh, Party Committee Secretary, Hospital Director said that the regular work ensures organization at 4 levels according to Circular No. 32/2023/TT-BYT. In each specific situation, there is a clear assignment of responsibilities to subcommittees, always ensuring readiness for possible situations.

Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan visited and wished a Happy New Year to doctors and medical staff of the Central Maternity Hospital and congratulated the "little citizen" born at the moment of New Year's Eve at the hospital.

At the same time, the hospital organizes out-of-hours medical examinations and treatment at the examination departments and on-demand examinations, prepares adequate supplies of medicines, infusions, chemicals, consumables, blood, preparations, and has ambulances ready to transport patients.

The hospital has a thoughtful plan to ensure that patients as well as medical staff eat for free during the 4 days of Tet, and to visit and give gifts to patients who remain in the hospital and do not return home for Tet.

On the last day of the year, the Central Maternity Hospital received 20 pregnant women, of which 13 had safe deliveries and 7 were still being monitored for delivery.

People's Physician, Professor, Doctor Nguyen Duy Anh, Party Committee Secretary, Hospital Director said that by 2025, the goal is to put the second facility into operation in the second quarter with 28 departments, rooms, examination and treatment areas, and specialized technical areas.

Key services will also be put into operation in 2025, such as the establishment of a fetal intervention center; reproductive support, prenatal and neonatal screening and diagnosis; Stem cells, cancer and neonatology, which play a core role in realizing the mission and vision of the Central Maternity Hospital.
