On the afternoon of September 25, Mr. Vo Van Hanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Can Commune ( Ca Mau Province), said that preliminary statistics showed that the fire that occurred in the area 3 days ago caused over 2 billion VND in damage. The police are still investigating the cause of the fire.
According to Mr. Hanh, it is difficult to assess the damage to the two houses that sell groceries, ironware, and household appliances, so it will take a lot of time. The bank branch headquarters was mainly heavily affected on the outside, on the upper floor, and some documents and items, so it will be repaired soon and is expected to resume operations next Monday.

“Initially, Ca Mau province supported two households whose houses were burned with 5 million VND each, and the commune supported 3 million VND.” Mr. Hanh said that forces were sent to the scene to help people clean up their houses and stabilize their lives soon.
Earlier, at 3:40 a.m. on September 22, a fire broke out at a grocery store on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street (Nam Can Commune, Ca Mau Province), then spread rapidly, engulfing the entire house. People tried to put out the fire on the spot but failed. The fire flared up fiercely, rising dozens of meters high, spreading to another house and a bank branch located next door.
The Provincial Police Fire Prevention and Rescue Department dispatched 5 fire trucks and dozens of officers and soldiers to the scene, coordinating with local forces to put out the fire. At around 5:10 a.m., the fire was brought under control. The authorities then continued to spray water to prevent the fire from breaking out again.
The fire did not cause any human casualties, but burned down two houses with a total area of over 250 square meters and many items inside; the bank branch headquarters was partially burned.
