In 2008, when she was only 19 years old and was the Secretary of the Village Youth Union, Ms. Ly participated in voluntary blood donation for the first time. She said: "First time I have donated blood. a little worried , but after being thoroughly informed, I felt more secure and confident. Then, seeing that my health was still good, I thought: why don't I continue to help people?". From then on, she embarked on the journey of "giving is forever", regularly donating blood, totaling until now give blood total 14 times.
Since 2023, she has been donating platelets, a form of blood donation that requires stricter standards. Donors need to weigh at least 50 kg before donating. 3 Every day, she has to eat frugally to ensure the quality of platelets. However, overcoming all obstacles, whether hot or cold, every 21 days, Ms. Ly is present at the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to continue her journey of sharing life. To date, she has donated platelets 35 times.
Not only did she donate her blood, Ms. Ly also actively encouraged her relatives, friends and the community to donate blood. Her mother donated blood 7 times, her sister donated blood 9 times. Thanks to her enthusiasm and perseverance, she has now connected and mobilized over 800 views voluntary blood donors
As Vice President of Hung Yen Blood Donation Club, Ms. Ly constantly strives to build a blood donation team. regularly . Currently, the Club has more than 150 members, of which more than 40 people regularly donate platelets, making an important contribution to maintaining the blood supply for treatment in hospitals.
Not stopping at donating blood, in 2019, Ms. Ly registered to donate tissues and organs after her death, and recently, she decided to register to donate her body to medicine. That action is not only a continuation of the spirit of sharing but also demonstrates a profound humanitarian vision, contributing to serving medicine and saving people in the future.
With her persistent and tireless contributions, Ms. Le Thi Ly has been recognized and rewarded many times by all levels and sectors. Notably, she is one of 100 outstanding voluntary blood donors nationwide to be honored at the National Outstanding Voluntary Blood Donor Honor Ceremony in 2025 in Hanoi on June 5.
