On April 11, the Hanoi Departmentof Education and Training announced the enrollment quota for grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year.
Nearly 80,000 targets for public grade 10
Accordingly, 122 public and autonomous public high schools were assigned a quota of 79,740 for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year. Of which, 199 public high schools were assigned 78,400 quotas, equivalent to 1,763 classes. The remaining 3 autonomous public high schools were assigned 1,340 quotas, with 32 classes.
Among 119 public schools, Viet Duc High School (Hoan Kiem district) was assigned the highest enrollment target with 21 classes and 945 students (15 English classes, 1 German class, 1 French intensive class, 2 French bilingual classes, 2 Japanese first foreign language classes).
Four specialized schools are assigned the following enrollment targets: Hanoi - Amsterdam enrolls 24 classes with 840 students for 13 specialized subjects (2 Math classes, 2 IT classes, 2 Physics classes, 2 Chemistry classes, 2 Biology classes, 2 Literature classes, 2 History classes, 2 Geography classes, 2 English classes, 2 French classes, 2 Chinese classes, 1 Russian class, 1 Japanese class).
Chu Van An High School for the Gifted enrolls 19 classes with 665 students for 13 specialized subjects (Math 1 class, IT 1 class, Physics 1 class, Chemistry 1 class, Biology 2 classes, Literature 2 classes, History 2 classes, Geography 2 classes, English 2 classes, Chinese 1 class, French 2 classes, Korean 1 class, Japanese 1 class).
Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted enrolls 20 classes with 700 students for 11 specialized subjects (2 Math classes, 2 IT classes, 2 Physics classes, 2 Chemistry classes, 2 Biology classes, 2 Literature classes, 2 History classes, 2 Geography classes, 2 English classes, 1 French class, 1 Russian class).
Son Tay High School for the Gifted enrolls 15 classes with 525 students for 9 specialized subjects (2 Math classes, 2 Physics classes, 1 Chemistry class, 1 IT class, 1 Biology class, 2 Literature classes, 2 History classes, 2 Geography classes, 2 English classes).
12,080 vocational education and continuing education targets
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training also assigned the enrollment target for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year to 29 vocational education and continuing education centers in the city with a total target of 270 classes, with 12,080 students.
Vocational education and continuing education centers organize 10th grade admission based on the results of training and studying of students at the junior high school level (if a grade is repeated, the results of the re-study year of that grade will be used).
Students wishing to apply for admission to vocational education - continuing education centers from April 21, 2025.
The entrance exam for grade 10 of Hanoi's public high schools will be held on June 7 and 8 (for non-specialized students). Students applying to specialized high schools will take an additional specialized subject exam on June 9.
In the 2025-2026 school year, Hanoi will recruit students into grade 10 of public high schools by means of an entrance exam with three subjects: math, literature, and foreign language. Each candidate has 3 wishes to enter grade 10 of public high schools, of which 2 wishes are in the admission area corresponding to the registration location, and the 3rd wish is in any admission area.
It is expected that Hanoi will have about 118,000 students applying for grade 10 public high schools, of which about 64% will be admitted. The rest can study at private schools, autonomous public schools, and continuing education - vocational education centers.
