Vietnam Education Publishing House speaks out about "huge" revenue of more than 3,100 billion VND in 2024

The financial report of VietnamEducation Publishing House (VEPB) in 2024 shows that the publisher's revenue reached VND3,102 billion, an increase of 14% over the same period last year.

NXBGDVN said that the publisher's profits come from many different sources.

NXBGDVN said that as a large enterprise with diverse operations, the NXB's profits come from many different sources. Specifically:

Profit from publishing exercise books and reference books: This is a publishing segment that has contributed significantly to the total revenue of NXBGDVN.

Profits from joint publishing activities: NXBGDVN carries out many joint publishing projects with partners, bringing high economic efficiency.

Profit from infrastructure exploitation: NXBGDVN has a system of infrastructure, factories, and warehouses that are exploited effectively, creating significant revenue.

Profit from financial investment results: NXBGDVN has capital contributions in many member companies and dividends from these investments are also an important part of total profit.

The Publishing House also said that in the two years 2023 - 2024, through optimization, cost reduction as well as with its reputation and experience, the two textbooks of the Publishing House of Education and Training of Vietnam will always be used the most by teachers and students nationwide due to the lowest price and best quality.

"With many educational book products (partly including textbooks) and other diverse production and business activities, NXBGDVN is proud to be a 100% state-owned enterprise that has achieved remarkable achievements in 2024, preserving and developing well the State-assigned capital, and fulfilling its political tasks in serving the cause of education.

Unlike private units participating in publishing textbooks, profits from production and business activities of NXBGDVN are paid to the State Budget.

In particular, in 2024, the efforts of the Vietnam Education Publishing House in reducing costs and optimizing production and business activities to significantly reduce the prices of 2 sets of textbooks (although the prices were much lower than those of other units) were recognized and highly appreciated by competent authorities for contributing to stabilizing the CPI index" - the representative of the Publishing House informed.

NXBGDVN commits to continue operating transparently and in compliance with the law.

The textbook market is competitive and open.

Since 2017, the State's policy has opened the door to allow many publishers to participate in the field of textbook publishing. Up to now, 7 publishers have been licensed to publish textbooks and in fact, many publishers and businesses have been publishing textbooks to serve the 2018 General Education Program. This clearly shows that the textbook market has had healthy, open, transparent competition, and no longer has a monopoly.

The Publishing House also affirmed that in the two years 2023 - 2024, the price of textbooks of NXBGDVN will always have the lowest price compared to textbooks of other publishers circulating on the market.

By 2025, textbook prices will be strictly regulated according to the ceiling price issued by the competent state agency. NXBGDVN always strictly complies with price regulations, ensuring the rights of students and parents nationwide.

"NXBGDVN operates based on market principles and must be financially autonomous. To publish textbooks according to the 2018 General Education Program, NXBGDVN had to borrow capital from banks to ensure financial resources and meet progress and quality requirements.

In addition, because the Vietnam Education Publishing House is a 100% state-owned enterprise, it must always strictly implement the provisions of the law on procurement and bidding - which have provisions that are being identified as "bottlenecks" of the system that need to be amended - leading to limitations and inequality compared to private units participating in publishing textbooks" - the Publishing House affirmed.

NXBGDVN commits to continue to operate transparently, comply with the law and make every effort for the country's education cause. At the same time, it is ready to provide accurate and complete information to ensure objectivity and honesty in information.
