Winter Volunteer Campaign – A Thousand Swallows Gather Together

Every winter, youth and student groups across the country organize numerous volunteer programs embodying the spirit of "helping those in need." All these winter volunteer programs aim to promote the pioneering and volunteer spirit of young people, contributing to social welfare and bringing joy to children and disadvantaged families in the district, ensuring they have a loving, warm, and happy winter. They also help the people and children gain more confidence and motivation to overcome life's difficulties.

The author submitted this photo series to the Happy Vietnam Photo and Video Contest, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications .

At the beginning of 2023, a group of young volunteers had a meaningful experience participating in a volunteer event called "Thousands of Swallows Gathering Together" in Dong Giang district, Quang Nam province.

One of the first volunteer activities was installing streetlights, making the area brighter and safer at night.

This is a volunteer activity aimed at helping poor and disadvantaged people in this area have a warmer, more fulfilling, and meaningful Lunar New Year. The volunteering took place on a weekend, when the locals were busy preparing for the upcoming Tet holiday.

With the desire to help impoverished people, we have prepared essential items such as gifts, books, streetlights, and other supplies to distribute to the residents.

In addition, the delegation also distributed gifts to underprivileged students and donated books and stationery to help them study better.

In addition, during this volunteer event, the group also organized a cultural exchange with attractive performances. Everyone participated actively and enthusiastically. The musical, dance, and theatrical performances brought a vibrant and joyful atmosphere to the entire area. It was also a way for each young person in the group to learn about and interact with the local people and convey a message of love, sharing, and solidarity.

The Dong Giang area is located in a high mountainous region, making travel and access difficult. Upon arrival, the team was warmly welcomed by the local people. They greeted us with deep affection and gratitude. All the volunteer activities were carried out with enthusiasm, willingness, and love for the people of this area.

Sharing her experience as a volunteer, author Ton Nu Khanh Hang confided: "Finally, after a hard day's work, we left Dong Giang with a feeling of happiness and satisfaction. We had done good things, helping the people here gain more faith in life and hope for the future. All our efforts were rewarded by the gratitude and appreciation of the people of Dong Giang. The 'Thousand Swallows Gathering' volunteer trip gave us many valuable lessons about humanity, sharing, and love. It was a memorable and meaningful experience, helping us realize that in this life, it's not just us, but also those around us. Let's always strive to help, share, and love those around us, so that together we can build a better world."

In 2024, the "Happy Vietnam" Photo and Video Contest, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, will continue to be held on the website https://happy.vietnam.vn for all Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and above. The contest aims to honor individuals and groups with positive informational products that make practical contributions to promoting a beautiful image of Vietnam to the world. Through this, it helps people at home, overseas Vietnamese, and international friends access authentic images of Vietnam, its people, and its achievements in ensuring human rights, moving towards a happy Vietnam.

Each competition category (photos and videos) has the following prizes and prize values:
– 1 Gold Medal: 70,000,000 VND
– 2 Silver Medals: 20,000,000 VND
– 3 Bronze Medals: 10,000,000 VND
– 10 Consolation Prizes: 5,000,000 VND
– The most voted-for entry: 5,000,000 VND
The winning authors will be invited by the Organizing Committee to attend the Award Ceremony and Certificate Presentation, which will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television.
