Government deploys plan to implement power plan VIII

On the afternoon of December 15, comrade Tran Hong Ha, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister chaired an online conference with localities to deploy the plan to implement the National Power Development Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 (referred to as Power Plan VIII). At the Thai Binh bridge, comrade Nguyen Quang Hung, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of a number of departments, branches and units attended the conference.

According to the representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, up to now, the Ministry has consulted with localities on the plan to implement the VIII electricity plan. The plan to implement the VIII electricity plan is calculated up to 2030, including a list of power source and transmission grid projects at voltage levels of 220KV or higher, industry and services on renewable energy, new energy in Vietnam, including grid connection projects with neighboring countries. After explaining and receiving opinions from ministries, branches and localities, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has developed a plan to implement the VIII electricity plan, including 9 chapters specifying the main contents such as: detailed forecast of electricity load demand results, power source and grid investment plan, land use demand for electricity development investment and solutions and resources for implementation.

At the conference, ministries, branches and localities discussed and contributed ideas to complete the plan to implement the VIII power planning to submit to the Prime Minister for approval.
In order to promptly implement the VIII power plan to ensure compliance with the plan, meet the energy needs for the country's socio-economic development and national energy security, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha suggested: For localities with projects in the VIII power plan, the projects will soon be included in the implementation plan. The Ministry of Industry and Trade will review the projects in the list of key projects for implementation, in addition to calculating possible risks as well as proactively developing alternative response options. The Government encourages and has a mechanism to support the development of rooftop solar power, especially self-production and self-consumption projects; the Government also prioritizes the development of electricity production from waste treatment.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to advise the Government on mechanisms and policies to smoothly implement power projects in the planning; fully absorb opinions at the conference to complete the plan and ensure the implementation of the 8th power planning on schedule and effectively.
