Officially recognized 630 Professors and Associate Professors in 2023

Chairman of the State Council of Professors Nguyen Kim Son has just signed Decision No. 80/QD-HDGSNN recognizing the qualifications for the title of Professor and Associate Professor in 2023 for 630 teachers, including 58 Professors and 572 Associate Professors.

Thus, all candidates named in the list of qualified Professors and Associate Professors in 2023 announced after the 12th meeting of the State Council of Professors for the 2018-2023 term (taking place on November 4 and 5) have been officially recognized.

According to the recognized list, the economic sector has the largest number of candidates recognized as meeting the standards for the title of Professor and Associate Professor, with 92 people, including 6 Professors and 86 Associate Professors.

The two youngest new Associate Professors in 2023 were both born in 1990 and in the same field of economics, including: Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Nham (majoring in finance - banking), lecturer at the Faculty of Finance, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Dr. Le Thanh Ha (majoring in Economics), lecturer at the Faculty of Economics, National Economics University.

The three youngest new Professors were all born in 1984, including: Tran Xuan Bach, Faculty of Medicine, Hanoi Medical University and two Professors from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology: Nguyen Dai Hai, Faculty of Chemistry, working at the Institute of Chemical Technology; Doan Thai Son, Faculty of Mathematics, working at the Institute of Mathematics.

Notably, among the new Professors this year, Ms. Ta Thi Hoai An, senior researcher at the Institute of Mathematics (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), born in 1972, became the third female Professor of Mathematics in Vietnam in nearly 70 years. The first female Professor of Mathematics in Vietnam was Ms. Hoang Xuan Sinh (recognized in 1980) and the second was Ms. Le Thi Thanh Nhan (recognized in 2015).

This year, there are 3 fields and interdisciplinary fields that do not have candidates recognized as meeting the standards for the title of Professor: Linguistics, History - Archeology - Ethnology and Literature.

Ho Chi Minh City National University is the unit with the largest number of recognized Professors and Associate Professors this year (2 Professors and 36 Associate Professors). Next, the units in the top 10 include: Hanoi National University (7 Professors and 27 Associate Professors); Hanoi University of Science and Technology (5 Professors and 29 Associate Professors); Thai Nguyen University (2 Professors and 27 Associate Professors); Can Tho University (3 Professors and 21 Associate Professors); Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (4 Professors and 14 Associate Professors); Hue University (1 Professor and 17 Associate Professors); Danang University (18 Associate Professors); Military Technical Academy (1 Professor and 14 Associate Professors); Hanoi Medical University (4 Professors and 9 Associate Professors).

After issuing this decision, the State Council of Professors will assign higher education institutions with qualified candidates to organize recognition and award decisions.
