Tan An Market (Tan An City) and the former Ward 2 Market have approximately 1,300 vendors selling a wide variety of goods. The large quantity of goods, including many flammable items such as electrical appliances, paper offerings, and clothing, means the risk of fire and explosion remains.
To ensure the safety of their lives and property, as well as that of those around them, small business owners are raising their awareness and proactively taking measures to prevent fires.
The Go Den Market Management Board (Ben Luc district) conducts a fire prevention and firefighting drill.
Ms. Truong Thi Men, a small business owner who has been associated with Tan An market for over 30 years, shared: "Since the police started providing guidance and conducting regular inspections on fire safety, I feel more secure in my business. Each stall has a fire extinguisher . Small business owners often remind each other to turn off electrical appliances when leaving. Everyone is careful because if a fire or explosion occurs, we will be the ones who suffer the most damage."
Furthermore, small traders at Tan An market actively participate in fire prevention and control awareness sessions to acquire knowledge and skills.
Mr. Tran Van Hung, a frequent shopper at Tan An market, expressed: "I see that the market is increasingly focusing on fire safety. Thanks to that, I feel safe when shopping here."
Go Den Market (Ben Luc district) is equipped with nearly 40 modern fire extinguishers and an automatic fire alarm system in the stalls, creating a "fire shield" to protect the market's safety.
Beyond investing in equipment, the Market Management Board also focuses on improving the awareness and response skills of the on-site fire fighting force and hundreds of traders through training sessions and drills.
Small business owner Truong Thi Men (Tan An City) arranges her goods neatly and in an open, airy manner to avoid the risk of fire or explosion.
According to Bui Gia Viet An, Deputy Head of the Go Den Market Management Board: "Besides equipping the market with a comprehensive fire prevention and fighting system, the Market Management Board also focuses on disseminating information, mobilizing support, and requiring traders to sign commitments to strictly comply with fire safety regulations, absolutely prohibiting the burning of incense or cooking in the general merchandise business area."
Besides traditional markets, the province currently has more than 30,000 residential buildings combined with production and business activities. To ensure fire safety at these establishments, the Provincial Police Department has directed its operational units and local police to intensify inspections, thereby contributing to raising fire safety awareness among business owners.
“Most businesses located in residential areas pose a risk of fire and explosion due to the concentration of flammable materials, tangled electrical wiring, lack of escape routes, and inadequate fire-fighting equipment. Therefore, in addition to raising awareness, the commune police are intensifying inspections and resolutely handling cases of deliberate violations of fire safety regulations,” said Captain Pham Thi Phuong Hang, Deputy Head of Phuoc Loi Commune Police, Ben Luc District.
