Choosing a favorable location for the first phase of Da Nang Free Trade Zone

To soon decide to establish the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, it is necessary to carefully study the current status and land recovery capability for each location.

On December 31, the Government Office announced the conclusion of the first meeting of the Steering Committee for the implementation of Resolution No. 136 of the National Assembly on the organization of urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang city.

Regarding the recommendations related to the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, to soon submit to the Prime Minister for consideration and issuance of a decision to establish the Da Nang Free Trade Zone. The Prime Minister requested the Da Nang City People's Committee and relevant ministries and agencies to urgently carry out the tasks.

In which, the People's Committee of Da Nang city is assigned to carefully study the current status and land recovery capability for each proposed location to form a functional area of ​​the free trade zone to ensure compliance with the planning and not affect national defense, security and the environment.

Research and select the most favorable and feasible locations to immediately form a free trade zone in the initial phase and potential locations that can be expanded in the future.

At the same time, review and clearly define the order, procedures and authority to decide on the location of the establishment of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone in non-adjacent locations according to the provisions of Resolution No. 136 and relevant legal provisions.

Regarding progress, Da Nang will send additional reports on the above contents to the Ministry of Planning and Investment and relevant ministries and agencies before January 10, 2025 for consideration during the appraisal process of the project dossier to establish the Da Nang Free Trade Zone.

Then, relevant ministries and agencies, according to their functions and tasks, urgently send their opinions on the appraisal of the dossier to the Ministry of Planning and Investment before January 20, 2025.

The People's Committee of Da Nang City shall complete the project dossier according to the appraisal opinions of ministries and agencies and send it to the Ministry of Planning and Investment before January 30, 2025. Report to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision on the establishment of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone before February 28, 2025.

In the submission, Da Nang proposed 10 locations to form functional zones. One of them is a sea encroachment location on Da Nang Bay.
