DTO - According to the Dong Thap Province Hydrometeorological Station, the highest peak tide level is forecasted on October 1-2, 2023 (at 5:00 - 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. every day).

Gardeners need to proactively respond to floods combined with high tides.

Water levels at stations may rise to approximately level 3 and above level 4 by 0.18 - 0.63m, then change slowly and gradually decrease. The level of natural disaster risk due to high tides is at level II. Flood depth in natural land areas (without dikes) is approximately 1.2 - 1.5m.

The forecast for high tides is approximately the peak tide of 2022. If the weather develops with heavy rain in the coming days in the southern districts, it will endanger the dike areas of fruit trees, causing flooding in areas without dikes, low dike areas, urban areas...

Therefore, to proactively respond to floods combined with high tides and riverbank erosion in Dong Thap province, the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Climate Change Response - Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Dong Thap province requests the Steering Committee for Climate Change Response - Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of districts and cities... to closely monitor the developments of rain, floods and high tides, the risk of flooding and landslides every day; promptly update and fully inform the forecasts and warnings on rain, floods and high tides so that agencies, units and people know and proactively prevent and respond, especially at the peak of the tide.

In addition, deploy shock troops to organize inspections and identify key locations on dikes and embankments; patrol, guard, prepare forces, materials, and means (melaleuca piles, sandbags, etc.) to reinforce the system of dikes, embankments, culverts, and low pumping stations; inspect riverbank areas at risk of landslides to warn, place warning signs, and evacuate people to safe places; prepare response plans for unusual situations that may occur.

Proactively develop plans to prevent flooding, operate sewer systems, drainage pumping stations, especially in concentrated residential areas, fruit tree production, and aquaculture; organize pumping to drain water in case of localized flooding to protect agricultural production safety; proactively plan to harvest areas that have reached the commercial stage; implement measures to ensure the safety of people in flooded areas such as centralized childcare, taking children to and from school to prevent drowning, etc.
