President Vo Van Thuong requested the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor , and relevant agencies to promote the humanitarian spirit and significance of the "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude" program, and to continue expanding and developing it further in both quantity and quality in the coming years.
On the afternoon of February 2nd, the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month, on the eve of the new year of the Dragon 2024, President Vo Van Thuong and Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen, along with representatives from several central ministries and agencies, attended the "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude" program in 2024 and extended New Year greetings to workers, laborers, and disadvantaged households in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City.
The "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude" program, held annually around the Lunar New Year, is organized by trade unions at all levels to create a joyful, healthy, and warm atmosphere for union members and workers during the New Year. It demonstrates the practical care and concern of trade unions, industries, and levels of government for workers, especially those in difficult circumstances who cannot afford to return home for Tet.

Reporting to the President and the delegation, the leaders of Thu Duc City stated that, in addition to economic development, during the Lunar New Year season, the city has intensified efforts to care for the lives of workers, laborers, and people in difficult circumstances, as well as those who cannot afford to return home for the Tet holiday.
Extending New Year greetings to the workers and households participating in the program, President Vo Van Thuong shared that Ho Chi Minh City is a major economic, cultural, educational, scientific, and technological center of the country, and a hub for international exchange. Since the early years of the Doi Moi (Renovation) period, the city has been the initiator of social welfare movements and programs to care for disadvantaged people in the locality and surrounding areas, including remote and rural regions.
"Perhaps that is why Ho Chi Minh City is known as a city of compassion, a city of love, a city where the difficulties in the lives of workers, students, and laborers are always cared for and resolved jointly by the Party committees, government, Fatherland Front, and other organizations," the President expressed.
President Vo Van Thuong also acknowledged that, despite many difficulties, Ho Chi Minh City has made great efforts to maintain stable growth, ensure social welfare, and care for the poor and those in difficult circumstances. This has been given great attention and guidance by the Party and the State, and has been actively implemented by relevant organizations.
Given the difficult situation in the region, where some businesses only give Tet bonuses of a few hundred thousand dong per person to their employees, the President noted that, in this challenging time, with the initiative of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude" program is a joint effort with all levels of government to care for workers and laborers during Tet, striving to ensure that every family has a Tet celebration and receives Tet gifts.
"During Tet (Lunar New Year), many workers are unable to return to their hometowns and have to stay in the city during days that should be spent with family, which is a disadvantage. The leaders of Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, along with agencies from the central to local levels, have taken care of, encouraged, and given gifts so that everyone can have joy when Tet comes," the President expressed.
Sending a message to workers and laborers on the eve of the Year of the Dragon, the President expressed his wish that each person and each family would clean and tidy their homes, discard the old things, and temporarily forget worries and anxieties, welcoming the Lunar New Year of the Dragon 2024 with good expectations.
