President visits and presents gifts to policy families and Bat Mot Border Guard Station

(Dan Tri) - On the afternoon of December 4, President Luong Cuong visited and presented gifts to policy families in Thuong Xuan district ( Thanh Hoa ) and encouraged officers and soldiers of Bat Mot Border Post.

President Luong Cuong visited and presented gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mother Lang Thi Phong, in Trung Thanh village, Luong Son commune, and 1/4 war invalid Lang Van Sung, in Kheo village, Bat Mot commune (Thuong Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province).

At the policy families, President Luong Cuong expressed his gratitude to the heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroic martyrs, and wounded soldiers who devoted and sacrificed their lives for the cause of fighting for national independence and protecting the Fatherland.

President Luong Cuong hopes that Vietnamese Heroic Mother Lang Thi Phong and 1/4 War Invalids Lang Van Sung will continue to promote their patriotic tradition, strive to develop the economy , and contribute to building an increasingly prosperous homeland.

He also requested the Party Committee, government, organizations and people of Thuong Xuan district to continue to do a better job of gratitude, regularly take care of both material and spiritual needs of families of martyrs, heroic Vietnamese mothers, war invalids, sick soldiers, families with meritorious services to the revolution, and well implement the nation's morality of "When drinking water, remember its source".

Officers and soldiers need to strictly maintain combat readiness, firmly protect territorial sovereignty and border security, strictly control border gates, effectively combat all types of crime; do a good job in foreign affairs, build a border of friendship, integration and development.

Reporting to President Luong Cuong, Lieutenant Colonel Le Anh Son, Chief of Bat Mot Border Guard Station, said that the unit was assigned to manage and protect a border area of more than 17km long, including 7 border markers and in charge of Bat Mot commune with 893 households/4,018 people.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Son, because this is a border area, there is a potential risk of crime related to illegal trading and transportation of drugs, weapons, explosives, and exploitation and transportation of forest products.

The Chief of Bat Mot Border Guard Station said that in recent years, the unit has arrested and prosecuted 3 cases/5 subjects for illegal possession of drugs, handled 6 cases/6 subjects for administrative violations, collected more than 70 million VND to the state budget; mobilized people to hand over 21 homemade guns of various types.

According to the leader of Bat Mot Border Guard Station, in recent years, the unit has coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to promote economic, cultural and social development in the area, helping people to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty with many practical and effective models and methods...

In addition, according to the leader of Bat Mot Border Post, in recent years, the unit has promoted and effectively implemented the programs "Border Spring, Warming the Hearts of the Villagers", "March Border Month", "Accompanying Women in the Border Area"; participating with the locality in doing a good job of taking care of people's health, caring for the poor, and families with meritorious services during holidays and Tet.

On the same morning, President Luong Cuong and his delegation donated 6 billion VND to build houses for disadvantaged families in Thuong Xuan district.
