Indonesian fans are dreaming of attending the World Cup from the national team to the U.17 team.
"3 points are so precious! A historic moment for the Indonesian U.17 team, winning 1-0 against Korea, the team that reached the final of the 2023 AFC U.17 Championship," Mr. Erick Thohir shared on his personal Instagram page on the morning of April 5.

He also expressed: "It was not an easy victory, with great pressure throughout the match. The Indonesian U.17 team showed extraordinary spirit and scored the decisive goal at the end of the match."
16-year-old Evandra Florasta scored the only goal in the 90+1 minute to help the Indonesian U17 team win a surprise victory over the Korean U17 team in the opening match of Group C of the 2025 AFC U17 Championship finals taking place in Saudi Arabia.
Thereby, opening wide the door to winning one of the top two spots in the quarter-finals and qualifying for the 2025 U.17 World Cup finals in Qatar in November.
In the same group, the U.17 Yemen team beat Afghanistan 2-0 to temporarily lead the group, the Indonesian team ranked 2nd with the same 3 points, but ranked behind due to a lower goal difference. The South Korean team, the number 1 candidate in the group, ranked 3rd and Afghanistan ranked last with no points.
"There are still two more important matches with Yemen and Afghanistan to win tickets to the U.17 World Cup. The Indonesian U.17 team must focus and make more efforts for the next match," added Mr. Erick Thohir.
In the same Southeast Asian region, the U.17 Indonesia team and the U.17 Vietnam team (Group B) both got points in their opening match. The U.17 Vietnam team tied U.17 Australia 1-1 to temporarily rank 3rd in the group. The U.17 Japan team beat UAE 4-1 to rank first in Group B. Meanwhile, the U.17 Thailand team lost 1-4 to Uzbekistan in their opening match in Group A.
In the next round, the U.17 Vietnam team will meet the Japanese team on April 7, while the U.17 Indonesia team will meet Yemen on the same day. Meanwhile, the U.17 Thailand team must win against the host U.17 Saudi Arabia (April 6) to regain hope of competing for a ticket to the next round.
Along with the U.17 team, the Indonesian team is participating in the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia, still hoping to compete for a ticket to the final round. Fans of this country are dreaming that both teams will win tickets to the World Cup.
