National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his emotion when meeting with President of the Switzerland-Vietnam Friendship Association Anjuska Marija Weil, a close friend of Vietnam.
On behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, the National Assembly Chairman respectfully thanked the sentiments that the Switzerland-Vietnam Friendship Association and Ms. Anjuska Marija Weil personally have shown towards Vietnam; thanked her for taking the time to attend the event celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South (1975-2025) in Ho Chi Minh City recently.
The National Assembly Chairwoman emphasized that Vietnam's current success is partly due to the support and assistance of international friends, including Ms. Anjuska Marija Weil, who has held the position of Chairwoman of the Switzerland-Vietnam Friendship Association for more than 30 years, is a core member of the Association's activities and has visited Vietnam more than 20 times.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man thanked Ms. Anjuska Marija Weil for participating in the anti-war movement in Vietnam since the 1960s and continuing to stand side by side with Vietnam to this day.

Vietnam appreciates the contributions that the Swiss-Vietnam Friendship Association has made to Vietnam, not only in spirit but also through its mobilization of donations for charitable and humanitarian activities and support for the poor. The association has supported Vietnam in building schools, supporting leprosy patients, and supporting victims of Agent Orange,” the National Assembly Chairman emphasized.
For her part, President of the Switzerland-Vietnam Friendship Association Anjuska Marija Weil sincerely thanked National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man for taking the time to meet her during her busy schedule with many activities in Switzerland.
She said that since its establishment in 1982, the principles and purposes of the Swiss-Vietnamese Friendship Association have not changed. That is to promote friendship, understanding and cooperation between the people of Switzerland and Vietnam.
In recent times, the Association has implemented humanitarian projects to support victims of Agent Orange, support micro-credit, improve healthcare and education; and support the Vietnamese community in Switzerland, such as establishing Binh Minh School to teach Vietnamese to children of Vietnamese origin.
The Switzerland-Vietnam Friendship Association maintains close relations with the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), the Vietnamese Embassy in Bern and the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization and other international organizations in Geneva. Every year, the Association organizes the Solidarity Day with Vietnam in Zurich.

President of the Switzerland-Vietnam Friendship Association Anjuska Marija Weil affirmed that in her position, she will continue to contribute to the development of the Association as well as to the good friendship and cooperation between Switzerland and Vietnam.
Listening to the opinions of Ms. Anjuska Marija Weil, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated the results of the activities of the Switzerland-Vietnam Friendship Association in recent times, especially the fact that the Association has recently closely accompanied the Vietnamese community to organize many meaningful activities in Switzerland.
The National Assembly Chairman said that up to now, thanks to Vietnam's efforts and support from other resources around the world, including Switzerland, Vietnam has achieved the goal of eliminating leprosy.
The National Assembly Chairwoman hopes that in her role as Chairwoman of the Friendship Association, Ms. Anjuska Marija Weil will continue to be a bridge and have practical activities to contribute to promoting the Vietnam-Switzerland Comprehensive Partnership in the coming time.
