On the morning of July 25 local time, at the headquarters of the Moroccan House of Representatives, President of the Moroccan House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami chaired a solemn welcoming ceremony for National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.

Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the President of the Moroccan House of Representatives held talks and signed a cooperation agreement between the two National Assemblies .

President of the Moroccan House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami recalled his visit to Vietnam to attend the Francophone Inter-Parliamentary Union Executive Committee Meeting in Can Tho in January 2025, and sent greetings from King Mohammed VI of Morocco to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and senior leaders of Vietnam.

Congratulating Vietnam on its impressive socio-economic development achievements and emphasizing the importance of Vietnam in Morocco's foreign policy, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami expressed his belief that the visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will open a new phase in cooperation between the two parliamentary bodies, contributing to promoting bilateral relations in priority areas such as agriculture, renewable energy, climate change, phosphates, electric vehicles, textiles, electronic components, tourism, etc.

With the hope that the two countries will continue to build mutually beneficial relations and act as gateways and bridges for each other in accessing each region's markets, the President of the Moroccan House of Representatives supports the study of negotiating a new trade agreement as well as the possibility of upgrading the cooperation framework; consolidating and effectively implementing bilateral cooperation mechanisms such as the Intergovernmental Committee; studying the possibility of establishing a joint mechanism with the participation of the National Assembly, ministries and businesses of the two countries.

For his part, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his impression of Morocco's historical and cultural traditions, role and strategic position in North Africa; respectfully sent the greetings of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to King Mohammed VI, the leaders and people of Morocco.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man recalled the historical relationship between Vietnam and Morocco that was built during the difficult days of Vietnam's struggle for national independence, as evidenced by the Moroccan soldiers' side by side with the former Viet Minh Front and the iconic structures today such as the Morocco Gate in Ba Vi and the Vietnam Gate in Morocco.

Assessing the remarkable achievements in the relationship between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Moroccan House of Representatives through the effective implementation of the Cooperation Agreement between the two National Assemblies in 2017, delegation exchanges, meetings, seminars and talks held regularly, as well as the effective activities of the Friendship Parliamentary Groups in each country's National Assembly and close cooperation at multilateral parliamentary forums, the National Assembly Chairman expressed his wish to continue strengthening the existing relationship, promoting mutual understanding and connection between parliamentarians of the two countries, creating momentum to expand bilateral cooperation in all fields, for the benefit of development and prosperity of the two peoples.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man assessed that the Vietnam-Morocco economic cooperation has made significant progress, as in the first five months of this year alone, two-way trade turnover recorded impressive growth of more than 320 million USD, exceeding the whole year of 2024, showing that the two countries still have a lot of potential to better exploit each other's markets.

The National Assembly Chairman suggested that the two sides continue to increase the sharing of market information; coordinate to promote free and sustainable trade initiatives within multilateral frameworks; connect businesses; study the possibility of joint production and export cooperation to third markets, especially markets where each side enjoys incentives from free trade agreements (FTAs); consider negotiating and signing new trade agreements suitable to the current development context; promote cooperation in strategic industries such as agricultural processing, fertilizer production, renewable energy, etc.

The two leaders agreed to continue strengthening political trust through increasing delegation exchanges at all levels and channels; direct contact between ministries, sectors and businesses of the two countries; and enhancing multilateral cooperation, especially within the framework of the United Nations and inter-regional cooperation.

The two sides discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern, agreeing to promote the settlement of disputes by peaceful means, not using or threatening to use force on the basis of respect for international law and the United Nations Charter.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully invited Moroccan House of Representatives President Rachid Talbi Alami to visit Vietnam soon. The Moroccan House of Representatives President happily accepted the invitation.

Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Tran Thanh Man met with Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch.

Pleased to welcome National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch highly appreciated the role, position, breakthrough development and success of Vietnam in the socio-economic development strategy; respectfully conveyed the greetings of King Mohammed VI to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking leaders of Vietnam.

Appreciating the diverse composition of the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation and the significance of the visit by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man in the context of the two countries preparing for the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Moroccan Prime Minister suggested that the two countries further strengthen cooperation in all fields.

For his part, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his joy on behalf of the leaders of the Vietnamese Party and State to visit Morocco, and thanked the Prime Minister, senior leaders and people of Morocco for the warm welcome given to the delegation.

On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman conveyed the greetings of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to King Mohammed VI, Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch and senior Moroccan leaders.

The National Assembly Chairman shared that the purpose of the visit is to continue the good development momentum of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries after the visit to Vietnam by the President of the Moroccan House of Representatives to attend the Francophone Parliamentary Union Executive Committee Conference in Can Tho (January 2025); emphasizing that political trust between the two countries' parliamentary bodies is built on the basis of regular activities in sharing legislative experiences and coordination in multilateral parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Francophone Parliamentary Union (APF), etc.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that the two sides increase delegation exchanges at all levels, especially in 2026 when the two countries celebrate the 65th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.

Assessing that economic and trade cooperation between the two countries is still modest compared to their potential, the National Assembly Chairman suggested that Morocco facilitate market access for Vietnam's strong products such as agriculture, footwear, garments, seafood, etc., and study the possibility of adjusting, supplementing or negotiating and signing new trade agreements suitable to the current development context of the two countries.

The National Assembly Chairman also asked Morocco to coordinate in promoting exchanges and cooperation between the business communities of the two countries, and create favorable conditions in granting visas to Vietnamese citizens.

Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch highly appreciated the activities within the framework of the visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, including the Policy Dialogue to promote Vietnam - Morocco cooperation.

Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch said that Morocco is devoting a lot of resources to investing in infrastructure development in major cities such as Casablanca, Marrakech... to prepare for hosting the World Cup in 2030, considering this the main driving force for Morocco's future growth and also an opportunity for countries, including Vietnam, to increase investment in Morocco.

Agreeing with the assessment of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on the bilateral relations and economic cooperation, the Moroccan Prime Minister said that the two sides need to make more efforts to bring economic and trade cooperation commensurate with the political relations and potential of each country. Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch hopes to soon visit Vietnam with a Moroccan business delegation to promote economic cooperation between the two countries, promote and boost Moroccan tourism.

In a friendly and open atmosphere, the two leaders discussed and agreed to promote two-way investment cooperation, serving as a gateway for each other to develop cooperation with each region.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man thanked and asked Morocco to continue to pay attention and create favorable legal conditions for Vietnamese citizens and Moroccans of Vietnamese origin to stabilize their lives in Morocco, integrate well with the local community and contribute to the development of each country, as well as serve as a bridge for Vietnam - Morocco relations.
