The Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province requested the heads of departments, branches, Chairmen of People's Committees of districts and cities to strengthen on-call duty, implement urgent fire prevention and fighting measures according to the direction of the Provincial People's Committee; strictly implement the reporting regime, be responsible to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the accuracy of the reports, ensure the requirements on authority, form and content; reflect the results, recommend arising problems, propose solutions...

Previously, at 1:00 p.m. on April 28, a fire broke out in a protective forest in Hamlet T4, Vinh Phu Commune, Giang Thanh District.

The local forest rangers coordinated with Kien Giang Provincial Police, Division 330 of Military Region 9 and related units to mobilize many fire trucks, 35 specialized water pumps, 2 engine covers, 1 canoe, 2 flycams and communication equipment and 9 vehicles of various types.

More than 500 officers and soldiers came to deploy many solutions to control and extinguish the fire, limiting the spread of fire to the above cajuput forest area.

Due to hot and windy weather, the forest fire spread widely. Some areas in the forest were dry and lacked water, making it difficult for authorities to put out the fire.

The burned forest covers an area of about 900 hectares managed by Division 330 (Military Region 9) and Kien Giang Forest Management Board. The burned forest area is currently being counted.

At 3:00 p.m. on April 29, authorities in Kien Giang province were focusing on fighting the forest fire.

On the afternoon of April 28, Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Lam Minh Thanh was present at the scene to directly direct the fire fighting work in the protective forest in Hamlet T4, Vinh Phu Commune, Giang Thanh District.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province directed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to preside over and coordinate with the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Police, the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Forestry Sub-Department, and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Giang Thanh district to urgently deploy urgent fire fighting measures according to the "4 on-site" plan and mobilize professional forces, vehicles, machinery and equipment to fight forest fires in Giang Thanh, determined to control and completely extinguish the fire, not allowing it to flare up again.

In addition, the People's Committees of districts and cities with forests organize on-duty shifts, assign forces to be on duty 24/7; strengthen patrolling, guarding, early detection and prepare forces to participate in forest fire fighting, search and rescue when forest fires occur according to the "4 on-site" plan.
