The Vietnam U23 team has a strong squad, including players competing in the 2023 V-League and talents who have just won the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship in Thailand. The VFF President believes that the home team will strive to achieve the goal of winning a ticket to the 2024 AFC U23 Championship in Qatar, with the opportunity to face the continent's top opponents.

In addition, the VFF president also emphasized that U23 Vietnam must play well in this tournament taking place at home to create motivation for the journey to conquer the World Cup ticket of the Vietnamese team in the future. "If we cannot demonstrate our ability right from the youth football level, the journey towards the World Cup will be difficult" - Mr. Tuan added.
The 2024 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers will feature 43 teams, divided into 11 groups (10 groups of 4 teams and 1 group of 3 teams), playing a round-robin format to determine rankings. The top teams of the 11 groups and the 4 best second-placed teams in the qualifying round will join host Qatar in the finals, scheduled to take place from April 15 to May 3, 2024.
At the end of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship finals, the three teams with the best results will qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics, while the losing team in the third-place match will play a Play-off with another team in Africa to compete for the final ticket.
