BHG - From April 22-24, VinaCapital Foundation (VCF) - a non-profit organization licensed in the US and operating in Vietnam, in collaboration with the Department of Health and sponsor KMS Technology, organized the "Cherish Life" program, providing professional training on neonatal resuscitation for medical staff in Yen Minh and Xin Man districts.

During the training, doctors and nurses from Xin Man and Yen Minh District General Hospitals were trained in neonatal resuscitation skills. VCF also donated 32 essential medical devices for the care and treatment of newborns, especially premature babies, such as: Continuous positive pressure ventilators, phototherapy lamps, multifunctional warming beds, obstetric monitors, and ball pumps... to the two hospitals.

According to data from the General Statistics Office in 2022, the infant mortality rate in Ha Giang is 20.19%, higher than the national average of 12.09%. This situation stems from many factors, partly due to the mountainous terrain, which makes it difficult for people, especially pregnant women and young children, to access timely medical services. In addition, the lack of essential medical equipment and limited professional training for district-level medical staff also affect the ability to provide on-site treatment.

Through the training program and donation of medical equipment, the province's district hospitals will have modern equipment and improve the professional capacity of local medical staff, contributing to reducing the infant mortality rate, bringing the opportunity for a healthier life to children in the mountainous areas of Ha Giang. The activity is also part of VCF's long-term project to support the Ha Giang provincial health sector to reduce the infant mortality rate, especially in district hospitals in the period 2025 - 2029.

VCF’s Survive to Thrive program aims to reduce infant mortality in Vietnam, especially in provinces and cities with limited access to quality healthcare, by providing essential neonatal care equipment and training. As of April 2025, the Survive to Thrive program has donated 627 pieces of medical equipment in 19 provinces and cities, helping to treat and save the lives of more than 54,000 premature babies and newborns in Vietnam.
