Expert: 8Wonder is a "two-way street" connecting Vietnamese music with the world

8Wonder is becoming a world-class stage that fans are looking forward to. After the peak performances in Phu Quoc and Nha Trang, experts believe that 8Wonder Moon Festival with the first super music festival held in Hanoi will be the next explosion to bring Vietnamese music to the world.

The news that 8Wonder Moon Festival will come to Hanoi for the first time, scheduled for early September, has made the music-loving community excited. The two big music parties at 8Wonder Summer in Nha Trang and 8Wonder Winter in Phu Quoc have made the super music festival branded VinWonders a highly anticipated music destination.

Hoai Giao, a "hardcore fan" of 8WONDER who attended the super music festival in both Nha Trang and Phu Quoc, admitted that although she had many experiences at music festivals in the country and abroad, the feeling with 8Wonder is something that cannot be found anywhere else. Calling 8Wonder a “phenomenon”, performing arts researcher Dinh Tuan Dat said that in recent years, it is undeniable that the Vietnamese music industry has developed strongly. Music festivals have appeared more and more with the admiration of thousands of audiences such as MONSOON Music Festival, HAY Festival… “Music events are becoming more and more systematic and large-scale, but still lack a “big bang” to create a buzz for Vietnam. 8Wonder came at the right time and has enough stature”, said the visiting expert at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.

The positive thing, according to him, lies in the effect of 8Wonder. Inviting a world-class A-list star to Vietnam has proven the world-class capacity of domestic organizers. It is not easy to achieve this standard because, according to him, famous stars like Charlie Puth and Maroon 5 are strict about every detail in any show. “The standard is not only sound and light but also the concept, audience size, and the meaning of the event... A show that is not of sufficient stature and value will never be accepted by an international star. 8Wonder has clearly proven its stature in the eyes of world stars,” Mr. Dat commented.

Besides bringing stars and international standards to Vietnam, Vietnamese artists as well as Vietnamese music are also known to the world. "Previously, when talking about Music Hub, people only mentioned Singapore or Thailand, but now it will be Vietnam. The names of Vietnamese artists will be known to many tourists around the world. Vietnam will have the opportunity to put its name on the world music map," said Mr. Viet.

More broadly, according to him, from the “special bridge” named 8Wonder, Vietnam’s destinations will also leave a strong impression on tourists. The evidence is that thousands of people of all skin colors have been present in Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, or soon Hanoi, along with millions of views around the world. The lasting impressions on tourists will be the biggest reason to turn tourists who follow famous artists to Vietnam into regular guests for the tourism industry even without stars.

Regarding this point, Mr. Viet believes that Vietnam, with its inherent strengths in landscape, rich cultural heritage combined with modern, colorful destinations, has great potential. "Not only is Vietnam on the music map, but it will also have the opportunity to make a strong mark on the world tourism map ," the expert assessed.

8WONDER Moon Festival will be held in Ocean City from September 6 to 8, 2024. The highlight of the festival will be the super music festival taking place on the night of September 7, a music event that brings together two famous stars at the same time: NE-YO, the owner of 3 prestigious GRAMMY® awards and famous Korean rapper BI.
