Transfer of peritoneal catheter placement technique for chronic renal failure treatment to Ninh Thuan General Hospital

During the transfer, the team of doctors from Khanh Hoa General Hospital and doctors from Ninh Thuan General Hospital performed surgery to place peritoneal catheters for 3 patients with end-stage renal failure. After surgery, the patients were monitored for dialysate and instructed on the procedure for performing peritoneal dialysis at home. This method uses the patient's own peritoneum as a semi-permeable membrane, allowing the exchange of substances between blood and dialysate to occur naturally through the mechanism of osmosis and diffusion. This method not only helps patients to be treated safely and proactively at home, but also reduces the number of hospital visits, saves costs and improves quality of life.

According to Dr. Phan Huu Chinh, in recent times, Khanh Hoa General Hospital has transferred many techniques to lower-level medical units and some general hospitals in neighboring provinces, including Ninh Thuan General Hospital. The cooperation program on transferring peritoneal dialysis techniques between the two hospitals helps patients with chronic kidney failure in Khanh Hoa province and neighboring areas have more opportunities to choose suitable treatment facilities. At the same time, it demonstrates the companionship and sharing between medical units after the province's merger, aiming to improve the quality of treatment and bring practical benefits to patients.
