Choose to stay home - choose faith
In early 2025, Mr. Ha Quang Hong (49 years old) in Thach Kim commune, Thach Ha district went for a check-up and discovered that he had tongue cancer. Although he decided to follow the doctors' instructions to perform chemotherapy and radiotherapy, Mr. Hong still had many concerns about choosing a place for treatment. At that time, the High-Tech Radiotherapy Center - Ha Tinh General Hospital had just officially started operating, Mr. Hong researched and decided to receive treatment in his hometown.
Under the dedicated care and treatment of the doctors, for 7 consecutive weeks, Mr. Hong has persistently received treatment with a combination of radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Up to now, the clinical results show that the tumor has responded very well, his pain has subsided, he can speak and eat normally.

Like other patients who have chosen to place their trust in the High-Tech Radiation Therapy Center - Provincial General Hospital, Ms. Tran Thi Nhat (born in 1982) in Ward 5, Thach Ha town always feels lucky that when she discovered her illness, the provincial radiation therapy center was also operating.
Ms. Nhat shared: “I was diagnosed with breast cancer by a central doctor and prescribed surgery and radiotherapy. After the surgery at the central hospital, I consulted about the equipment and human resources of the High-Tech Radiotherapy Center - Provincial General Hospital and decided to return to my hometown for radiotherapy. The hospital is close, convenient to travel to, and the doctors are enthusiastic, so I feel very secure. Up to now, I have had 15/25 radiotherapy sessions, my health is stable, and my spirit is much more comfortable.”

Unlike the two patients above, Mr. Nguyen Thanh (born in 1934) in Tan Lam Huong commune, Ha Tinh city went to the Oncology Department of the Provincial General Hospital for examination and was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer. Having a serious illness at an advanced age, Mr. Thanh did not want to be treated. However, after listening to the doctors' explanations and advice, he decided to be treated at the High-Tech Radiation Therapy Center - Provincial General Hospital.

“The doctors are very dedicated and enthusiastic. Although I chose non-surgical radiotherapy, there were times when I felt discouraged. At those times, the doctors diligently shared and advised me, so I continued to overcome the pain to receive treatment. Up to now, I have completed 28/28 radiotherapy sessions, and the symptoms of pain and discomfort have gradually decreased. I hope the disease will gradually go away in the near future,” Mr. Thanh shared.
Building trust
Witnessing a diligent study session of doctors, engineers, and technicians of the High-Tech Radiation Therapy Center - Provincial General Hospital under the guidance of experts from Hospital 108, we understood that behind each radiation beam is an extremely stressful and meticulous journey. Each person, depending on their expertise, must take on a separate responsibility, but at the same time, there must always be a close connection between them so that each step ensures absolute accuracy.

In the control room of the linear accelerator system - the heart of the high-tech radiotherapy area - Doctor CKI Bui Thien Cuong - who directly treats many patients - shared: "Each patient is a separate problem. The machines are modern, but the treatment effect is only optimal when the radiotherapy plan is designed precisely and suitable for the physical condition and location of the lesion of each patient. From the simulation, planning to treatment implementation, we do everything with all responsibility and love for the patient".

Accompanying each radiation therapy course, medical physicist Phan Thi Thu Thao shared: “In addition to coordinating with doctors, calculating and planning treatment for cancer patients; checking and ensuring quality (QA/QC) for accelerators and radiation therapy equipment, establishing radiation beam characteristics and standard radiation doses for cancer treatment, ensuring the accuracy and safety of the treatment process, we are also “psychological experts”. And, what moved me most was not the obvious improvement in the imaging results but the optimism and confidence returning to the patients’ faces. For them, cancer is no longer the end but the beginning of a hopeful journey of fighting”.

For effective treatment, in addition to modern machinery, the decisive factor is the qualifications and working spirit of the team of doctors, engineers and technicians. Before the High-Tech Radiation Therapy Center - Provincial General Hospital was put into operation, they were trained thoroughly at leading facilities in Hanoi and Hue and have continued to learn and improve their expertise through technical transfer sessions coordinated by the Center with leading central hospitals.
Doctor CKI Nguyen Viet Hung - Deputy Head of Oncology Department, Provincial General Hospital shared: "We not only treat but also build trust. The systematic investment in machinery and human resources helps us gradually affirm: Ha Tinh is completely capable of effectively treating cancer at the provincial level".
