The moment of walking down the aisle arm in arm with her father is a memorable moment in the life of Ms. Lai Thi Thao Vy (Vinh Cong commune, Chau Thanh district).
Father's Day is a special occasion to honor and express gratitude to fathers, grandfathers, and all men who play a fatherly role in our lives. This year, Father's Day falls on Sunday, June 15th. In Vietnam, in recent years, people have begun to pay more attention to this day to appreciate the silent sacrifices of fathers. This is an opportunity for each child to pause amidst the hustle and bustle of life, reflect, and appreciate their father's silent love even more. It could be a thank you left unsaid, a hug long forgotten, or simply a time spent together enjoying tea and chatting about ordinary things.
Ms. Lai Thi Thao Vy (Vinh Cong commune, Chau Thanh district) always speaks of her father with great affection and gratitude. For her, her father's love wasn't expressed in words, but clearly shown through every small yet warm action.
Vy's most memorable moment is when her father held her hand as they walked down the aisle. She shared, "I've sat beside my father many times, and that moment was both warm and heartbreaking. Warm because it had been so long since I'd held his hand for so long, but also heartbreaking because I understood I was about to leave his embrace to embark on a new journey." The bond between father and daughter was nurtured by simple memories, from karaoke sessions together to clay toys and colorful drawings her father made for her. She recounted, "My father and I both share a passion for art, and I inherited my creativity from him. The time spent with him is always precious. Everything I do with him feels joyful and fulfilling."
A father's love is also evident in quiet acts of care, such as always washing the car clean, preparing fruit for his daughter when she visits home, and readily indulging her and playing games with her in the fields. Vy confided, "My father never said 'I love you,' but those little things are the clearest evidence of his love for his family."
To repay that immense love, she always listened attentively to her father's stories and shared many things about her life. For Vy, her father was not only a source of support but also a shaper of her character. His teaching, "Do everything from the heart, not for money," has become a guiding principle in her journey to pursue her passion for teaching.
Huynh Lien Phat (wearing his graduation gown) is happy that his father has always been present at his important milestones.
Despite studying abroad in South Korea, Huynh Lien Phat (Tan Khanh Ward, Tan An City) always thinks of his family and his beloved father. During those days of intense homesickness, what warms his heart most are memories of his father – a man of few words but who silently sacrificed for his family. “Perhaps my most memorable moment with my father was the day he came to school to thank the professor who guided and mentored me throughout my five years of university and gave me the opportunity to study at Hanyang ERICA University. That day, my father wore a gray shirt, his face full of pride because I had reached another memorable milestone in my life,” Phat confided.
Despite being far from home, he always makes time to call and check on his father's health and share interesting stories from South Korea. Sharing his immediate plans, he said: “I'm trying to study, research, and experience Korean culture, and I'm planning to return to Vietnam in July to visit my family. At that time, I'll buy my father the watch he likes as a belated gift because I won't be home to celebrate Father's Day with him.”
A father's love isn't boisterous like the waves, but it's as enduring as an underground stream, nurturing and supporting us through countless ups and downs. No matter how busy life gets, don't forget to thank your father and give him a warm hug – the silent hero of your life.
