Staff at a hospital in Guatemala were horrified to discover a female patient "back from the dead" moving inside a body bag.
According to Mirror, the girl (anonymous) showed signs of severe malnutrition and was treated at San Juan de Dios General Hospital (Guatemala).
After a period of treatment and being attached to a monitor, she was declared dead due to no signs of breathing and no brain activity.
However, after 5 hours in the body bag, she began to move. Mortuary staff were shocked to discover the incident and quickly reported to the doctors to transfer the patient to the emergency room.
Despite doctors' efforts to resuscitate, the patient showed no signs of life and was declared dead for the second - and final - time.
Mortuary staff rushed the patient to the emergency room.
The hospital has sent its condolences to the patient's family for "the difficult time they are facing". It is not yet clear whether the authorities will investigate the incident.
A hospital spokesman said the patient was admitted in a "critical condition" with signs of severe malnutrition and a history of seizures and cerebral palsy.
"After 30 minutes of medical efforts, the girl was declared dead and her body was transferred to the morgue according to procedure," the spokesman said.
After this information was spread, public opinion had many mixed opinions. One local resident was upset and said that the health system in Guatemala is "terrible".
Meanwhile, another person said his life was saved by doctors at San Juan de Dios Hospital. "I received excellent care in their intensive care unit," he said.
Earlier this year, the Mirror interviewed a number of people who claimed to have "come back from the dead". One person said they felt "overwhelmed with peace and happiness".
"It feels airy and light because I live a very stressful life. But when I come back to life, it feels like when I find out that the person I love also has feelings for me, or like winning the lottery at the end of the day.
After that, I was never afraid of death and felt relieved when I heard that someone had passed away," he said.
"My dad's heart stopped during a heart attack and he was brought back to life. He said he felt an overwhelming sense of peace," another person said.
"I almost drowned and I felt the same thing. Infinite peace for a few seconds," a third person shared.
