Chinese President Xi Jinping has supported Thailand's entry into BRICS and hosting of meetings of regional organizations such as the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) and the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC).

On November 15, Mr. Xi Jinping and the Chinese delegation had bilateral talks with the Thai delegation, led by Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, on the sidelines of the Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Lima, Peru.

During the talks, President Xi Jinping praised the special friendship between China and Thailand and said the close relationship would be further strengthened in the next 50 years in economy , culture, trade, education and space technology, according to Thai government spokesman Jirayu Houngsub.

Beijing also pledged to cooperate with Bangkok in developing clean energy and digital technology, expanding trade, investment and educational cooperation, as well as in cracking down on transnational and cybercrime.

For her part, Prime Minister Paetongtarn expressed her admiration for China's development and progress in many areas, such as the formation of a “new quality production force” that she said is in line with Thailand's development efforts.

Ms. Paetongtarn stressed that Bangkok wants to learn from Beijing's experience in responding to natural disasters and advances in new technologies, such as space technology, electric vehicles (EVs) and clean energy.

The head of the Thai government said that the Southeast Asian country is ready to cooperate with the Northeast Asian country, within the framework of the Global Civilization Initiative, to promote Thailand's "soft power" as well as cultural and tourism exchanges.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn also thanked China for its decision to lend Thailand a Buddha tooth relic, which will be placed at Sanam Luang Royal Park in Bangkok on December 4 to mark the 72nd birthday of Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn (July 28), as well as Beijing's loan of a pair of giant pandas to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of formal relations between the two countries next year.
