Effective digital teaching aids

Since the 2020-2021 school year, teachers Pham Thi Hoa and Dinh Thi Thu Huong from Pham Hong Thai Primary School (Nam Dinh ward) have researched and applied the initiative "Designing and effectively using digital teaching equipment in Nam Dinh - the essence of traditional crafts" to integrate local education content into the Experiential Activities subject for grades 3, 4, and 5. The initiative has been recognized by the Provincial Department of Education and Training as having an effective impact and will be applied at the sectoral level in 2024.

Ms. Pham Thi Hoa shared that the 2018 General Education Program includes a new component: local education. This is a beneficial part of the curriculum, meeting the practical demands of life, combining learning with practice, and linking theory with reality. However, some content, such as issues related to social welfare policies and traditional crafts, in the curriculum remains abstract for primary school students. Based on this reality, the school's teaching staff has developed lesson plans that are more suitable to the students' understanding; and designed and built digital products to utilize the content and learning activities to develop students' competencies.

Digital teaching aids utilize PowerPoint 365 and iSpring Suite software to create images and audio based on resources downloaded from reputable, copyrighted websites. These devices can be easily uploaded to LMS (Learning Management System) platforms, allowing teachers and students to access and retrieve information anytime, anywhere.

With digital teaching equipment, students can directly interact with and experience traditional craft villages online, watch videos , and complete interactive exercises. Even when direct visits and experiences are not possible, they can still gain the most complete, easily understandable, and memorable knowledge about the history and traditions of craft villages, especially the impact, changes, and adaptations of local people in preserving, conserving, and developing these villages over time.

A creative STEM lesson by teacher Mai Manh Ha, Nguyen Viet Xuan Primary School (Nam Dinh ward).

At Nguyen Viet Xuan Primary School in Nam Dinh ward, with the goal of providing a visual and engaging lesson to help third-grade students easily visualize the structure and function of the organs in the digestive system, in the 2023-2024 school year, teacher Mai Manh Ha developed digital teaching aids for the lesson "The Digestive System" in the Grade 3 Natural and Social Sciences subject.

Teacher Ha explained that for elementary school children, using only printed pictures or static models would make it difficult for them to understand the process of food moving and transforming within the body. Therefore, he designed a digital teaching device based on software for creating digital lessons, editing videos, designing images, creating 3D simulations of the digestion process, adding voiceovers, and building a system of interactive questions for students.

Thanks to this learning method, students understand the lesson quickly and retain knowledge longer. They proactively express their thoughts, actively answer questions, and create a lively learning atmosphere. This digital teaching aid also supports teachers in teaching flexibly, visually, and easily checking and evaluating results. Mr. Ha's digital teaching aid won first prize in the 2024 Digital Teaching Aid Development Competition.

Ms. Dinh Viet Ha, Principal of Nguyen Viet Xuan Primary School, commented that this is one of the practical solutions with high applicability and suitability to the school's actual conditions when implementing the 2018 General Education Program. This digital teaching equipment is being widely applied by teachers in the school. From this, the movement to promote good teaching, good learning, innovative teaching methods, and creative teaching equipment is spreading more strongly with many useful initiatives, linking teaching and learning practices, testing, and evaluation in a way that develops students' competencies.

Teacher Tran Thi Thuy Duong from Tran Dang Ninh Junior High School (Nam Dinh ward) with a Literature lesson applying artificial intelligence.

From the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year, Literature lessons taught by Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Duong at Tran Dang Ninh Junior High School (Nam Dinh ward) have become more engaging thanks to the application of artificial intelligence in her teaching. In a Literature lesson where students in class 6A3 retell a legend or fairy tale, during the "Show and Tell" activity, Ms. Duong only introduces the activity, while the class groups present their prepared work.

Using artificial intelligence tools, the students worked in groups, preparing presentation content at home. Stories such as the legend of An Duong Vuong, the fairy tale "The Starfruit Tree," etc., were presented in diverse forms: AI videos, musical compositions, rhymes, creating fairy tale films using STEM products, and dramatizing the stories... creating engaging and captivating lessons where the students themselves were the "center" of the learning process.

Ngo Ngoc Lam Anh, a student in class 6A3, shared that Ms. Duong's Literature lessons are very engaging, captivating, and enriching. In these lessons, students access knowledge through various methods and formats, making memorization easier and more lasting. Ms. Duong guides them on how to use and select information from artificial intelligence tools to build, develop, and present learning projects in class.

Ms. Duong stated that over the years, teachers have become familiar with and proficient in tools such as Canva, Azota, Quizizz, etc., for preparing lesson plans and designing lectures. Recently, the strong development of artificial intelligence has led to the emergence of many useful support tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, etc., which have become "powerful assistants" for teachers. AI helps make lessons more lively, engaging, and relevant to the learning needs in the digital age.

According to Ms. Duong, with artificial intelligence, teachers not only need to selectively utilize and verify information to better serve their lessons, but also need to become guides, helping students use technology intelligently, safely, and responsibly.

"AI is just a supporting tool, but if teachers know how to utilize it properly, it will make lessons much more effective. The important thing in education is still to prioritize listening to students, adjusting teaching methods, and being creative to achieve the best results in each lesson," Ms. Duong stated.

Ms. Tran Thi Huong, Principal of Tran Dang Ninh Secondary School, reported that the biggest challenge for schools in implementing the 2018 General Education Program is teaching equipment. The school encourages the creation of new teaching equipment, digital teaching aids, and the use of artificial intelligence tools in teaching. Teachers at the school are also proactive and bold in applying information technology to teaching, resulting in high effectiveness.

In the context of the education sector's efforts to implement Resolution No. 71/NQ-TW dated August 22, 2025, of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development, schools in Ninh Binh province are focusing on building a synchronized digital infrastructure, ensuring reliable internet connections, equipment, and management software to support teaching and learning. Simultaneously, schools are promoting the deployment of online learning management systems, electronic gradebooks, digital learning materials, and shared data repositories... helping teachers and students access information quickly and accurately.

The teaching staff is gradually mastering modern teaching tools, applying appropriate artificial intelligence in lesson planning and educational activities, guiding students, and developing skills in using technology safely and effectively.
