From a small production complex established in 1960 specializing in bleaching and dyeing of blankets, curtains, and clothes for the people of Nam Dinh city, in 2005, Son Nam Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company was established in the form of a joint stock company with a charter capital of 5 billion VND. The big challenge for the Company when switching to equitization was how to compete with large domestic textile and garment enterprises and meet the requirements of partners from countries with developed textile and garment industries. At that time, the core development strategy of the Company was: investing in equipment and machinery, improving the capacity and qualifications of workers, promoting trade promotion, and building a brand. At the same time, the Company's officers and employees had to innovate themselves, constantly learn to master technology, do a good job in marketing, practice thrift, and fight waste.
2005 was considered the turning point in the "investment to compete" campaign of Son Nam Textile with over 60 billion VND to build the OE Spinning Factory, with a capacity of 3,000 tons/year in Hoa Xa Industrial Park. In 2007, the Company continued to inaugurate the 2nd OE Spinning Factory also in Hoa Xa Industrial Park with a total investment of over 60 billion VND, a capacity of 3,000 tons/year; operating in 2 main areas: spinning, making towels for export to markets in Japan, the United States, Korea, Taiwan and countries in the EU. In 2011, the 3rd spinning factory came into operation with equipment from Italy and Germany (1,008 spindles long spinning machine with automatic yarn doffing).
During 65 years of construction and development, due to many reasons, the Company has been on the brink of bankruptcy many times. In 2008, the global economic crisis directly affected the economies of many countries; the "recession storm" led to about 70% of textile enterprises falling into losses or bankruptcy. Son Nam Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company operates in the export method of purchasing raw materials and semi-finished products (FOB), finding its own markets and exporting directly, so it faces many difficulties in the consumption market and unstable raw material prices.
In that situation, the collective of officers and employees in the Company with the spirit of solidarity, dynamism, creativity, daring to think, daring to do, striving to overcome difficulties and challenges, rising to affirm the brand. The Company focuses on doing well in market work, investing in new machinery, equipment and technology; building a team of skilled officers and employees, arousing working style and self-awareness so that employees recognize their responsibilities, promoting emulation movements... Therefore, the Company's production and business still achieve high growth rates, gradually steadfast in international economic integration. From an enterprise with rudimentary equipment and a small number of employees, up to now, Son Nam Textile Joint Stock Company is one of the typical enterprises of the Vietnam Textile and Garment industry. Over the past 15 years, the Company has built and expanded 9 factories, invested in modern equipment with a total capital of over 1,700 billion VND; In 2024, industrial production value will reach 320 billion VND; average income per worker will be 9.2 million VND/person/month.
Along with investing in modern factories, the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the Company have led mass organizations, cadres, party members and employees to actively and effectively implement the movement to build corporate culture launched by the superior Party Committee; focusing on building a system of regulations and rules that best comply with the Labor Code, Intellectual Property Law, Environmental Law, Social Insurance Law, etc. Due to the effective implementation of the movement to build corporate culture, the Company has achieved many important results in production and business activities. Products meet customer requirements; ensure jobs and regular and stable income for employees. Currently, Son Nam is a 100% export enterprise, with relations with 30 foreign partner companies specializing in the production and trading of textile products, cotton yarn, and export towels present in the markets of Japan, the US, Russia, Korea and the EU.
Son Nam Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company is also an active and effective participant in the National Target Program on New Rural Development; bringing crafts to rural areas, creating jobs for more than 30 companies and rural enterprises with more than 2,000 handicraft households in the three provinces of Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, and Ha Nam . With the responsibility of being one of the "leading" units in the textile sector, the Company always shares difficulties with enterprises, supports production, keeps its "trust" through economic contracts, technology support, and technical improvements with the hope that craft villages in Nam Truc, Truc Ninh, Xuan Truong, and Hai Hau districts will overcome difficulties, develop sustainably, and join hands in building new rural areas. Not only focusing on production and business activities, in recent times, the Company's officers and employees have actively participated in social activities for the community such as: supporting flood victims, gratitude fund, fund for the poor, education promotion fund, supporting victims of Agent Orange and disabled children.
During 65 years of construction and development, the staff and employees of Son Nam Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company have been awarded many noble titles by the Party and the State: Third-class Labor Medal in 2006; Second-class Labor Medal in 2010; First-class Labor Medal in 2015; The Provincial People's Committee, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Ministry of Public Security awarded the "Excellent Emulation Flag".
