The "boost" that makes Da Nang tourism make a spectacular breakthrough

VHO - Every summer, the image of roads leading to the Han River packed with people and vehicles, hotels full of rooms, and restaurants bustling with diners has become a familiar "specialty" of Da Nang. All of this stems from the strong attraction of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival - DIFF, an event considered a "golden push" to boost the city's tourism industry.

Spreading tourism brand

After 13 seasons, DIFF has increasingly proven its role as a driving force for the development of Da Nang 's smokeless industry. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee: "In the next 5 years, DIFF will continue to play an important role in strongly promoting the development of the city's cultural and tourism industry."

Statistics show that in just under a month of the DIFF 2025 qualifying round (from May 31 to June 30), accommodation establishments in Da Nang served about 1.17 million visitors, an increase of 10.3% over the same period last year. This is a telling figure, clearly reflecting the attractiveness of this festival to domestic and international tourists.

DIFF 2025 is also recognized as the largest festival season ever with 6 competition nights, an increase of one night compared to 2024. In particular, the final night between the Z121 Vina Pyrotech fireworks team (Vietnam) and the Chinese team taking place on July 12, is becoming the focus of great attention from people and tourists.

The room occupancy rate in Da Nang this time is forecasted to reach 90-95%. 4-5 star hotels, resorts and accommodation facilities along the coast and in the central area are all in a state of "full occupancy".

The
During the month of the qualifying round of the 2025 Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, the number of visitors to Da Nang increased sharply, reaching about 1.17 million.

Not only increasing the number of visitors, DIFF also promotes the length of stay, spending of tourists and stimulates many accompanying service industries such as cuisine , transportation, experience tours, shopping... It is estimated that revenue from accommodation, food and beverage and travel in June reached more than 3,869 billion VND, an increase of 22% over the same period in 2024.

With hundreds of billions of VND invested each season, the DIFF organizer not only contributes to improving the quality of the event but also strongly spreads the image of Da Nang - a modern, friendly and unique city - to international friends.

The strong growth is clearly shown in the numbers: in the first 6 months of 2025, Da Nang is estimated to have reached nearly 5.8 million overnight visitors, 5 times higher than the whole year of 2007 - when DIFF had not yet been launched. Total revenue from accommodation, food and beverage, and travel in the 6 months also reached more than 18,200 billion VND, 3 times higher than the whole year of 2007.

According to the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, with the support of the DIFF organizer, the city has a unique tourism product like DIFF, contributing significantly to the growth of visitors and spreading the Da Nang brand domestically and internationally.

Affirming the position of "Asia's leading event and festival city"

DIFF is not simply an art - light - music festival, but also a clear demonstration of Da Nang's sustainable development strategy: positioning the city to become "Asia's leading event - festival city", and a pioneering model in recovery and breakthrough after the COVID-19 pandemic.

DIFF 2025 will feature 10 international fireworks teams, the most ever. According to Ms. Nadia Shakira Wong - CEO of G2000 (the world's leading fireworks festival consultant): "We are having the world's largest fireworks festival in Da Nang. No other country has 10 teams competing like that."

The high value of the prizes, the prestigious brand and the increasingly improved quality have turned DIFF into a "high-class playground" for international fireworks artists. At the same time, the event also contributed to attracting attention from the global media, making Da Nang a bright spot on the world event map.

The
High-end hotels and central and coastal areas continuously recorded 85-90% occupancy during DIFF.

Mr. Marcos A. Bednarski, Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina to Vietnam, commented: “International events such as DIFF help promote the image of Da Nang and Vietnam to the world. In my opinion, Da Nang is one of the leading localities in organizing unique cultural festivals.”

Mr. Sandeep Arya, Ambassador of India to Vietnam - representing one of the important tourism markets of Da Nang shared: "I believe DIFF is becoming a big attraction for international tourists, including Indians. I attended last year and felt the development in both quality and scale of the event."

With more than a decade of organization, DIFF has gone beyond the framework of a regular fireworks festival, becoming a vibrant cultural symbol of Da Nang.

Each fireworks display is not only a blend of art and technology, but also a “story told with light” - just like the way Da Nang constantly creates and innovates to touch the hearts of tourists from all over the world.
