All of this stems from the immense appeal of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival - DIFF, an event considered a "golden boost" that propels the city's tourism industry to new heights.

Promoting the tourism brand.

Having been held for 13 seasons, DIFF has increasingly proven its role as a driving force in the development of Da Nang 's tourism industry. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City: "In the next 5 years, DIFF will continue to play an important role in strongly promoting the development of the city's cultural and tourism industries."

Statistics show that in just under a month during the DIFF 2025 qualifying rounds (from May 31st to June 30th), accommodation establishments in Da Nang served approximately 1.17 million visitors, a 10.3% increase compared to the same period last year. This is a significant figure, clearly reflecting the festival's appeal to both domestic and international tourists.

DIFF 2025 is also recognized as the largest festival ever, with 6 competition nights, one more than in 2024. In particular, the final night between the Z121 Vina Pyrotech fireworks team (Vietnam) and the Chinese team, taking place on July 12th, is becoming a focal point attracting great attention from locals and tourists.

Hotel occupancy in Da Nang during this period is projected to reach 90-95%. Four- and five-star hotels, resorts, and accommodations along the beachfront and in the city center are all on the verge of being fully booked.

During the approximately one-month qualifying round of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2025, the number of visitors to Da Nang increased sharply, reaching about 1.17 million.

Besides increasing the number of visitors, DIFF also boosts the length of stay and spending of tourists, stimulating many related service industries such as food , transportation, experiential tours, and shopping. It is estimated that revenue from accommodation, food and travel in June reached over 3,869 billion VND, an increase of 22% compared to the same period in 2024.

With hundreds of billions of VND invested each season, the organizers of DIFF not only contribute to raising the quality of the event but also strongly spread the image of Da Nang - a modern, friendly city with rich cultural identity - to international friends.

The strong growth is evident in the figures: in the first six months of 2025, Da Nang is estimated to have received nearly 5.8 million overnight visitors, five times more than the whole year of 2007 - a time when Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) had not yet been established. Total revenue from accommodation, food, and travel in the six months also reached over 18,200 billion VND, three times more than the whole year of 2007.

According to the leaders of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, with the support of the DIFF organizing unit, the city has created a unique tourism product like DIFF, which plays an important role in increasing the number of tourists and spreading the Da Nang brand both domestically and internationally.

Affirming its position as "Asia's leading city for events and festivals"

DIFF is not simply an art, light, and music festival, but also a clear testament to Da Nang's sustainable development strategy: positioning the city as "Asia's leading event and festival city," and serving as a pioneering model for recovery and breakthroughs after the COVID-19 pandemic.

DIFF 2025 will feature 10 international fireworks teams, the most ever. According to Ms. Nadia Shakira Wong - CEO of G2000 (a leading global fireworks festival consulting firm): “We are having the world's largest fireworks festival in Da Nang. No other country has as many as 10 teams competing like this.”

High prize values, a prestigious brand, and ever-improving quality have transformed DIFF into a "world-class playground" for international fireworks artists. At the same time, the event has also contributed to attracting attention from global media, making Da Nang a bright spot on the world event map.

High-end hotels and those in central and coastal areas consistently recorded occupancy rates of 85-90% during the DIFF (Difference in International Tourism).

Ambassador Marcos A. Bednarski of the Republic of Argentina to Vietnam commented: “International events like DIFF help to promote the image of Da Nang and Vietnam to the world. In my opinion, Da Nang is one of the leading localities in organizing unique cultural festivals.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Sandeep Arya, the Indian Ambassador to Vietnam – representing one of Da Nang's important tourism markets – shared: “I believe DIFF is becoming a major attraction for international tourists, including Indians. I attended last year and felt the development in both the quality and scale of the event.”

With over a decade of organization, DIFF has transcended the boundaries of a typical fireworks festival, becoming a vibrant cultural symbol of Da Nang.

Each fireworks display is not only a blend of art and technique, but also a "story told through light"—much like how Da Nang constantly innovates and creates to touch the hearts of visitors from all over the world.
