Explaining the name of Huong Tra ward, Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Huong Tra town said that the name Huong Tra is the current name of the town. This name appeared in the 17th century, under the reign of Lord Nguyen Phuc Nguyen (1613-1635) after changing the name of Kim Tra district to Huong Tra and lasted until today. Naming Huong Tra is to remind the second place name of the town, helping future generations always remember the land that their ancestors built until today.

Regarding the name of Kim Tra ward, this is the old name of the current Huong Tra town. This name appeared very early in the 30s of the 15th century (in the book Du dia chi written by Nguyen Trai in 1435, Kim Tra district was recorded), and it was not until the reign of Lord Nguyen Phuc Nguyen (1613-1635) that it was changed to Huong Tra. The purpose of naming Kim Tra is to recall the first place name of the town, helping future generations always remember the land that previous generations established.

“As for Binh Dien commune, the name Binh Dien appeared quite early, referring to the land of the three current localities: Binh Tien, Binh Thanh and Huong Binh. Naming Binh Dien commune not only helps future generations always remember the origin of the land, but also has a high generality,” said Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung.
