Let's sing happy birthday together |
Caring for soldiers' spiritual life
When the sun was setting, the lights in the yard of the HL-CĐ Battalion were turned on, along with the songs: Aspiration of Youth, Afternoon on the Border, Singing Forever the Military March..., heroic and bustling. The officers and soldiers of the unit, especially the 120 CSMs, eagerly gathered around the stage set up in the middle of the yard. At exactly 7:00 p.m., the program "Comrades' Birthday", organized by the Executive Committee of the unit's Inter-Union Branch for nearly 30 CSMs, began.
The rows of tables and chairs were neatly arranged to fill the space. The ao dai of the female students of the University of Tourism - Hue University (a sister unit of the Battalion) were mixed with the green of the military uniform, along with smiles. The folk dance "Aspiration of Youth" performed by the Youth Union members of the Training Company and the song "A Round of Vietnam" performed by female student Ho Thi Diem Trinh opened the program, receiving thunderous applause.
The joy continued when nearly 30 CSMs with birthdays in February, March and April were personally presented with gifts by Lieutenant Colonel Le Van Son, Party Secretary, Political Commissar of the Battalion; Major Nguyen Tuan Tai, Deputy Party Secretary, Battalion Commander; Captain Ho Minh Phu, Deputy Political Commissar of the Battalion, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union. The Youth Union officers called Facetime directly to the families of two CSMs whose birthdays were on that day, to share the joy, making the joy of the "Comrades' Birthday" night even more complete.
The Executive Committee of the Inter-branch Youth Union also prepared meaningful gifts, taken from the “Save small change, share difficulties” fund, to present to CSMs with difficult family circumstances, along with words of encouragement to strive and firmly complete their tasks. The sound of applause like a warm congratulations rang out when the birthday cake and the shimmering candles “appeared” in the middle of the stage. The young soldiers’ faces were moved, gathered together, made wishes and blew out the candles. Many privates - CSMs whose birthdays were celebrated today boldly and confidently stepped onto the stage to say thank you; performed songs praising the homeland, the country, and the soldiers.
Privates Pham Trinh Xuan Huy, Nguyen Manh Tuan, and Ho Xuan Long were “caught” with tears in their eyes, “shyly” expressing: “When we are at home, we celebrate our birthdays with our families and friends every year. When we enter the army, all activities, studies, training, and exercises follow strict schedules and discipline. We are deeply moved when our units, comrades, and teammates care for and love us down to the smallest detail.”
Try to complete the task well
According to Captain Ho Minh Phu, Deputy Political Commissar, Deputy Secretary of the HL-CĐ Battalion Youth Union, through "Comrades' Birthday" and many meaningful cultural and artistic activities, officers and soldiers of the unit in general and CSM in particular shared warm feelings, full of joy and optimism. The closeness, care and concern of commanders at all levels and between comrades and teammates have fostered strong feelings and solidarity within the unit, striving to complete all tasks well.
From the care and closeness, during last year's training season, the commanders at all levels, comrades, and teammates understood the feelings of Private Ho Van Trieu. Mr. Trieu joined the army when his wife had just given birth to a 3-month-old child, was often sick, and his family's economic conditions were difficult, so he was somewhat worried. "The Party Committee and the unit's Command paid a lot of attention and care to this comrade. In particular, they took from the unit's "Saving small change, sharing difficulties" fund to buy supplies and necessities, and created conditions to bring Private Ho Van Trieu home. After that visit to his family, Mr. Trieu felt secure, made efforts, and completed his training well" - Lieutenant Lo Van Duy, Political Commissar of the Training Company recalled.
Lieutenant Song Ba Re, Platoon Leader of Platoon 3, Training Company said: The CSMs all made efforts and were responsible on the training ground; they performed well in shooting training, shooting at target number 4, target number 7, infantry combat techniques, etc.
During the combat alert that took place at 2 a.m. one day in mid-April, Private Vu Viet Thang fell, hurt his leg, and was carried on the backs of his comrades. Sweat soaked his comrades' shirts, but his steps were still in step with the army. "I told myself to try to improve my health, train well to be worthy of the affection of my comrades, to fulfill well the tasks and responsibilities of a soldier," Private Vu Viet Thang confided.
