Phu Loc District Forest Protection Department receives a golden mountain tortoise

On May 22, Phu Loc District Forest Protection Department received a golden mountain turtle, discovered by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung, a resident of Loc Dien Commune (Phu Loc District) on her way home and voluntarily handed over to the authorities.

This rare turtle, scientifically named Indotestudo elongata, weighs 1kg, and was handed over in a stable health condition. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung, the handover of the golden mountain turtle to the authorities was with the hope that it would be rescued and released back into the natural environment. At the same time, it demonstrates a sense of responsibility and awareness in protecting endangered and rare wildlife, contributing to the preservation of biodiversity and the protection of natural resources according to the law.

Previously, on May 21, Phong Dien Town Forest Protection Department coordinated with Phong Thu Ward Police to receive a pangolin, handed over by Mr. Le Cong Thanh, a permanent resident of Phong Thu Ward, Phong Dien Town. This pangolin belongs to group IB - endangered, precious, rare wild animals prohibited from hunting and trading according to Decree 06/2019/ND-CP and Decree 84/2021/ND-CP. Mr. Thanh said that the animal suddenly strayed into his house, he realized that this was a strictly protected species, so he proactively handed it over to the authorities.

A Luoi District Forest Protection Department received a reticulated python handed over by local people.

Also on May 21, the A Luoi District Forest Protection Department received a reticulated python owned by Mr. Ho Duc Ly, a permanent resident of Trung Son Commune, A Luoi District. This python species is classified in group IIB - a group of endangered and rare wild animals that need to be preserved. After receiving it, the forest rangers checked the health of the reticulated python and prepared a file for handling according to regulations.

According to the Hue City Forest Protection Department, since the beginning of the year, people have voluntarily handed over 33 more wild animals, many of which are endangered and rare. The unit respectfully acknowledges the people's actions and calls on the community to continue joining hands to protect the forest and the habitat of all species.
