The 2nd English Talent Contest attracted a large number of contestants.

The Center for Youth Science and Technology Development in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Young Pioneer Council, with the support of the Vietnam-USA Society International Joint Stock Company, organized the 2nd English Talent Contest in 2023 with the theme: "Ho Chi Minh City in my heart".

The contest aims to promote the emulation movement of learning and self-training in English, improve foreign language skills, especially communication and presentation skills in English for students and implement the Training Program, equip social practice skills, international integration skills and improve foreign language proficiency for the city's youth in the period 2022 - 2027.

Participants are team members and children in Ho Chi Minh City who compete individually, divided into 2 groups: Group A: Primary School; Group B: Secondary School.

The exam format includes 4 rounds: The preliminary round includes 3 weeks of online exams - Online English challenges (Week 1: from June 26 to July 1, 2023, attracted 5,032 students to take the exam in Group A and 4,877 in Group B. After the online preliminary round, the Organizing Committee will select 50 contestants from each group with the highest results each week to enter the Semi-final round: Video Speech Contest - Listen to my voice. In this round, contestants prepare a self-speaking video in English with a maximum length of 5 minutes. The speech includes 2 contents: self-introduction (no more than 60 seconds) and introduction of a construction, place, relic or historical and cultural activity in Ho Chi Minh City, along with the reasons why the contestant is impressed by the location.

Final Round: Golden Bell Knowledge Contest - Who is smarter than me? Candidates will answer multiple choice questions (in English) on the following topics: historical traditions, culture of Ho Chi Minh City, basic and advanced English knowledge, necessary skills in the process of international integration, etc.

Final Ranking Round: Live Speech Contest - The shinning time. Candidates entering the Final Ranking Round will have time to prepare a mind map about the content: introduce themselves and present their thoughts, propose solutions to promote and introduce historical sites, relics, activities with historical and cultural values of Ho Chi Minh City to friends at home and abroad.

Prizes for each table include: 1 first prize, 1 second prize, 1 third prize, 5 most impressive video prizes./.
