On July 5, People's Hospital 115 ( Ho Chi Minh City) announced that it had saved the life of a young male patient who was brought back from Cambodia in critical condition; at the same time, it reported the incident to the Vuon Lai Ward Police (Ho Chi Minh City) for handling and settlement according to regulations.
According to the patient, he met a girl through social media, and was then invited to “go back to his hometown to visit his family for a few days to relax”. However, as soon as he crossed the Cambodian border, he was restrained by a group of people and taken to a detention area in Cambodia. Here, the young man had to endure terrifying hours of being “physically impacted” multiple times a day on his hips and chest, along with many electric shocks on his back, abdomen, arms and legs…
The patient is being cared for and treated at People's Hospital 115.
Doctor Nguyen Thien Phu, People's Hospital 115, said the patient was admitted with difficulty breathing, chest tightness, and severe psychological trauma. Through clinical examination, doctors determined that the patient had multiple injuries: kidney injury, small amount of bilateral pleural effusion, liver parenchyma damage with elevated liver enzymes, soft tissue damage spreading to the chest, abdomen, and right back...
The above severe injuries are the result of systematic physical torture that this person suffered while being forced to work against his will in Cambodia.
Upon receiving the patient, the hospital's Surgical Intensive Care Unit quickly assessed, developed an active treatment plan, and closely monitored the patient. In addition to treating the physical injuries, the treatment team also paid special attention to the severe psychological trauma the patient was experiencing.
The treatment process involves close coordination between many specialties: resuscitation, surgery, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine and psychology. Doctors, nurses and medical staff in the department always accompany, encourage, motivate and closely coordinate with the patient's relatives. Thanks to that, after the active treatment process, the patient's condition has gradually stabilized both physically and mentally, and has now been discharged from the hospital.
Doctor Nguyen Thien Phu warned that this is one of the lucky cases that was saved. Through this case, we cannot help but ask a big question: How many more young people will be the next victims? "Heavenly" job offers from social networks, illegal brokerage lines or even seemingly harmless acquaintances and lovers... can all be deadly traps.
Therefore, people, especially young people, need to be more vigilant with invitations to work abroad, especially from relationships met online. Always be alert, check information carefully and do not trade the future with prospects that are too far away to be true, sometimes costing lives.
