Former General Director of Dong A Bank Tran Phuong Binh passed away

Late on June 18, a source from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper said that Mr. Tran Phuong Binh (born in 1958), former General Director of Dong A Bank (DAB), passed away on the same day.

Mr. Tran Phuong Binh is one of the people who has been with Dong A Bank since its early days. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics and taught at several universities.

Mr. Tran Phuong Binh then moved to the banking sector and became the general director of Dong A Bank since 1998.

In August 2015, the State Bank announced the suspension of Mr. Tran Phuong Binh from the position of General Director of Dong A Bank after announcing the inspection conclusion and the decision to put the bank under special control from August 13, 2015.

Inspection results show that from 2012 onwards, Dong A Bank had many violations of the law on financial management, credit granting and other business activities, seriously affecting the financial situation of this bank.

By December 2016, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency had initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Mr. Tran Phuong Binh.

Before his death, Mr. Tran Phuong Binh was serving a life sentence.
