Da Lat, Thailand tops domestic and foreign destinations for April 30 and May 1 holidays

Da Lat and Da Nang are two of the most sought-after domestic tourist destinations by Vietnamese tourists, while Bangkok (Thailand) and Singapore are the top international destinations.

The 5-day holiday of April 30 and May 1 is an opportunity for people in the country to have interesting long trips. Based on searches from March 17 to April 6 with check-in dates from April 26 to May 1, digital travel platform Booking.com has announced the domestic and international destinations most searched by Vietnamese tourists during this occasion.

Cool climate locations lead search trends

Booking.com’s Travel Predictions 2024 report shows that 75% of Vietnamese travelers are looking for cool destinations to escape the heat as average temperatures continue to rise. This demand is evident in the spike in searches for Dalat, a city famous for its cool mountain air and peaceful landscape.

Da Lat is also at the top of the list of domestic destinations most searched for by Vietnamese tourists this holiday season.

In addition, up to 82% of domestic tourists expressed their preference for places near the sea because of the relaxation and energy regeneration. This trend partly explains the dominance of coastal locations in the list of most searched domestic destinations. Topping the list is Da Nang - the city is famous for its charming beaches and bustling nightlife, followed by Nha Trang, Vung Tau, Hoi An, Phan Thiet and Mui Ne.

“According to our 2024 Travel Predictions Report, 81% of Vietnamese travelers feel their lives are enriched by their travels. Therefore, long holidays are not only an ideal time for people to put aside their daily work but also an opportunity to relax and unwind,” said Mr. Varun Grover, Country Manager of Booking.com in Vietnam.

The top 10 domestic destinations most loved by Vietnamese tourists from April 26 to May 1, 2024 are: Da Lat (#1), Da Nang (#2), Nha Trang (#3), Vung Tau (#4), Ho Chi Minh City (#5), Hoi An (#6), Hue (#7), Hanoi (#8), Phan Thiet (#9), Mui Ne (#10).

Vietnamese tourists still favor Southeast Asian destinations

Not only domestic destinations but also neighboring cities in the Asia-Pacific region have attracted considerable attention from Vietnamese tourists. Bangkok (Thailand) leads the list of international destinations most searched by Vietnamese tourists, followed by Singapore, Seoul (South Korea), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Tokyo (Japan).

Thailand continues to be a popular choice for Vietnamese tourists, with 3 out of 10 most searched destinations being cities in the Land of the Golden Pagoda.

The top 10 international destinations most popular with Vietnamese tourists from April 26 to May 1 are: Bangkok (Thailand), Singapore, Seoul (Korea), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Tokyo (Japan), Taipei (Taiwan, China), Ubud (Bali, Indonesia), Hong Kong (China), Phuket (Thailand), Chiang Mai (Thailand).
