However, due to land issues, especially the land for the treatment of mud and waste dredged from the anchorage area and shipping channel, the planned operation of this anchorage area has been delayed.
Mr. Le Viet Quang, a local resident, said that local fishermen are very interested in the construction and operation of the An Hoa Fishing Boat Storm Shelter. Previously, fishermen heard that the project would be put into use before this year's storm season, but because there was no space to treat the dredged mud and solid waste under the anchorage, it will take until the end of 2025 to complete.
"We fishermen hope that relevant units, local authorities and people with land for production in the cleared area will soon find a definitive solution to construct and put the project into operation. The sooner the project is put into operation, the happier we will be, to ensure the safety of people and vessels during the rainy and stormy season," Mr. Le Viet Quang suggested.
Engineer Tran Van Ha, Commander of the An Hoa Fishing Boat Storm Shelter Project combined with the development of Tam Quang Fishery Logistics Services, said that the project has achieved over 95% of the workload. The main items including the embankments, boat mooring docks, internal traffic roads, anti-erosion embankments, drainage systems, and anti-collision equipment have been basically completed.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Lam, Deputy Director of Quang Nam Construction Investment Project Management Board, said that the main items of the An Hoa fishing boat storm shelter combined with the development of Tam Quang fishing logistics services have been basically completed. The project management board has requested the construction units to concentrate maximum means and equipment to complete the project on schedule.
The biggest difficulty now is the site for the large volume of mud and soil dredged from the waterway and the water area where boats are moored. According to the plan, the area used for the collection and treatment of dredged waste is nearly 6.4 hectares. Most of the land used for the treatment of dredged waste is agricultural land and perennial crop land of local people. Up to now, most of this area still has no compensation or site clearance plan.
"To overcome this difficulty, the Quang Nam Construction Investment Project Management Board is currently focusing on coordinating with the locality to speed up the site clearance progress. We set a target of basically completing the site clearance compensation work by October 30 to hand over the site to the construction units. By the end of 2025, the project will be basically completed and put into use," said Mr. Nguyen Hong Lam.
With an investment capital of more than 420 billion VND, the An Hoa storm shelter anchorage combined with Tam Quang fisheries logistics service development has a total area of 140 hectares, including items such as: The anchorage area has a water area of 104 hectares, of which 52 hectares are dredged from 2.5m to 4.5m, signaling system, bank protection embankment combined with ship anchorage with a length of nearly 2 km, anti-collision equipment, ensuring anchorage for 1,200 ships with capacity from 300 CV to over 1,000 CV to safely take shelter from storms.
