On November 25, the founding congress of the Vietnam Classical Music Association for the first term (2025-2030) took place in Hanoi with the participation of representatives of ministries, departments, branches, organizations and nearly 100 members.

In his opening speech, Dr. Nguyen Van Than, Head of the Congress Organizing Committee, emphasized that the Vietnam Classical Music Association is a social and professional organization of musicians and classical music lovers, aiming to connect, preserve, honor and promote the values of classical music; contributing to improving the spiritual and cultural life of the people and international integration.
According to Dr. Nguyen Van Than, the Vietnam Classical Music Association operates with three main missions: Building a modern and sustainable Vietnamese classical music ecosystem; raising the status of Vietnamese artists in the international arena; contributing to the development of Vietnam's culture and arts industry and contributing to the country's socio -economic development.

To realize the above missions, the Association aims to implement three strategic tasks for the 2025-2030 period.
The Association will establish a Vietnam Music Talent Fund; build a network of international artists to teach in Vietnam; organize masterclasses with domestic and foreign scholarship programs; and strengthen extensive international cooperation with conservatories, academies and training facilities to increase learning and training opportunities for young talents.
The Association aims to build an annual National Concert Series; organize the Vietnam Classical Music Festival; support youth and semi-professional orchestras to connect with regional orchestras and bring classical music to schools, hospitals and communities.

The Association will also promote digitalization in its activities, promote livestreaming, podcasts and music education platforms; build online programs specifically for children and teenagers and create music products that can be widely disseminated.

Speaking at the Congress, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vu Chien Thang congratulated the establishment of the Vietnam Classical Music Association. Deputy Minister Vu Chien Thang affirmed that the establishment of the Vietnam Classical Music Association is an objective and necessary requirement in the period when the country is entering a new era, and at the same time is consistent with the policy of developing cultural and artistic culture, contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnamese classical music in particular and Vietnamese music in general, actively contributing to the development of social culture and international integration, promoting humanistic values through academic music activities.
The Congress discussed the orientations and solutions for the development of the Association, and selected and elected the Executive Committee for the first term. The Congress unanimously elected an Executive Committee of 15 members. Of which, Dr. Nguyen Van Than is the Chairman; People's Artist Pham Ngoc Khoi is the Vice Chairman; musician and journalist Tran Thi Le Chien is the Vice Chairman and General Secretary.

Speaking in his capacity as Chairman of the Vietnam Classical Music Association, Dr. Nguyen Van Than expressed his honor to be trusted and entrusted with this important responsibility. Believing that the Vietnam Classical Music Association was established with many important missions, in addition to connecting classical music lovers, it also accompanies the development of the nation's literature and arts to reach out to the world. Dr. Nguyen Van Than affirmed that together with the Executive Committee of the Association, they will perform well their functions and tasks, bring the Association's activities to the international level and bring high value to expand the long-term cooperation network between Vietnamese artists and organizations, thereby raising the position of Vietnamese classical music; seeking new development opportunities according to the strategic orientation of the Party and State on developing cultural industries...
On this occasion, to demonstrate its efforts to contribute to the country and society, the Vietnam Classical Music Association organized a special concert on the evening of November 28, 2025 at the Hoan Kiem Theater (Hanoi), calling for kind hearts to support the people of the Central region who were severely affected by the recent floods. All sponsorship and ticket sales will be sent directly to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
