Ho Chi Minh City Open University opens 2024 school year

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, spoke at the opening ceremony.

On the morning of October 16, Ho Chi Minh City Open University held the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, congratulated and commended the achievements of the graduate students, trainees and students in the past school year; at the same time, congratulated more than 5,000 new Vietnamese students and nearly 100 students from many countries such as France, Laos, Cambodia, Philippines, Ghana, Myanmar and Philippines who were admitted and studied at Ho Chi Minh City Open University in 2024.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha, Ho Chi Minh City Open University is a pioneer university in participating in building a learning society in Vietnam since 1990, with the educational philosophy of Humanity, Openness, Practicality, and Integration. Ho Chi Minh City Open University is a multidisciplinary public university under the Ministry of Education and Training with many leading levels and systems in Vietnam with the orientation of application, popularization of knowledge and community engagement.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, Ho Chi Minh City Open University has achieved many remarkable results in many fields, creating a solid foundation for a new stage of development. According to the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings on October 9, Ho Chi Minh City Open University is proud to be ranked 1201-1500 among universities in the world and in the top 05 among Vietnamese universities, up 05 places compared to the beginning of 2024.

Regarding publications in WoS journals in 2023, the School ranked 8th among schools under the Ministry of Education and Training. According to the Scimago Institutions Rankings in 2024, the School ranked 16th in Vietnam, and belonged to the Q3 group in the Asiatic region and Q3 globally.

According to the Webometrics 2024 rankings, the School holds the 16th position in Vietnam and the 115th position in Southeast Asia, up 4 places compared to 2022.

According to THE (Times Higher Education - 2024) rankings, the School is one of 13 higher education institutions in Vietnam included in the Impact Rankings.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha, Principal of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, awarded scholarships to valedictorians.

In addition, quality assurance activities are always carried out consistently, aiming at the goal of all training programs meeting quality accreditation standards certified by prestigious international and domestic organizations. Up to now, Ho Chi Minh City Open University has met the accreditation standards for the second cycle of 2023 with a total of 36 programs accredited according to different accreditation standards, specifically: 13 training programs have been granted quality accreditation certificates meeting standards by FIBAA (Europe): including 5 majors in the master's training system and 8 majors in the undergraduate training system; 4 training programs have been granted quality accreditation certificates meeting standards by AUN-QA (Southeast Asian University Network); 19 training programs have been granted quality accreditation certificates meeting standards by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha suggested that in the 2024-2025 school year, teachers, staff, and employees of the school should unite and join hands to educate students with all their conscience, responsibility, enthusiasm, and love so that the school's students can receive the best training during their time at the school.

For students, the President of Ho Chi Minh City Open University hopes that they will overcome the current difficulties, turn their dreams and ambitions into reality; determine a positive and proactive attitude in learning, clearly define learning goals, be ready to acquire new knowledge foundations in a rapidly changing and internationalizing technological environment; be proactive and creative in learning, steadfast with their learning goals and plans; proactively cultivate foreign language and information technology skills, access world knowledge...

At the Opening Ceremony, Ho Chi Minh City Open University honored and awarded certificates of merit and scholarships to 493 new students with outstanding achievements in the 24th enrollment period with a total value of more than 4 billion VND./.
