Ho Chi Minh City National University: Candidates registering for "capacity assessment" increased sharply

On May 8, the Center for Testing and Training Quality Assessment of Ho Chi Minh City National University said that after 21 days (from April 17 to May 7) of opening the registration portal for the second round of the 2025 Competency Assessment exam, more than 97,000 candidates registered.

The number of candidates registering for the second round of the exam this year increased by about 57,000 compared to the same round last year. According to regulations, candidates will have to complete payment of the exam fee by May 8.

The second round of the exam was held on June 1 in 11 provinces and cities, including: Hue, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Tien Giang, An Giang and Ho Chi Minh City.

The exam results are expected to be announced on June 16.

The Ho Chi Minh City National University Competency Assessment Exam 2025 will be held in two rounds. If a candidate takes both rounds, the higher exam result will be used for admission consideration.

Previously, the first round of the exam took place on March 30 with more than 126,000 candidates taking the exam, the largest number of exams since the first year of organization until now (2018).

In this exam result, the average score of candidates was 618.4 points (on a maximum score of 1,200 points); of which, 142 candidates scored over 1,000 points and the candidate with the highest score was 1,060 points.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City National University will not send paper copies of the Certificate but issue electronic Certificates to create more favorable conditions for candidates and admission units, while improving the efficiency of management work according to the digital transformation trend.

In 2025, the first batch of students studying under the 2018 General Education Program will graduate from high school and participate in university admissions.

Responding to the innovations of the 2018 general education program, Ho Chi Minh City National University adjusted the structure of the competency assessment test.

Adjusting the exam structure ensures two principles: Accurately assessing candidates' university learning capacity; ensuring fairness and creating equal opportunities in accessing university education for all candidates, especially when choosing subjects at high school level according to the new program, which is very diverse.

Currently, 111 universities and colleges have registered to use the results of the Ho Chi Minh City National University Competency Assessment Exam for admission./.
