On the morning of May 27, in Ha Long City, the 17th Congress of theEducation Trade Union, term 2023-2028, held its second session to approve a number of important contents and close the Congress.
In the 2017-2023 term, the Education Trade Union effectively implemented the program "Welfare for union members" with an amount of 1.022 billion VND, attracting 14,000 union members and workers to participate. The Trade Union also flexibly and creatively directed the implementation of the campaign "Supporting education in mountainous, remote and isolated areas" launched by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Vietnam Education Trade Union, specifically assigned to the address "schools helping schools", "districts helping districts". The campaign resulted in a donation of 1.024 billion VND in cash through scholarships and gifts to support teachers, specifically: 1,052 warm winter blankets, 1,556 new warm coats, 43,883 sets of clothes, 169,163 notebooks and many other living and learning supplies for students and teachers. During the term, the Industry Union also organized and coordinated with the District Labor Federation to organize 10 "Tet Sum Vay" programs with 9,088 gifts, totaling 2,995 billion VND.
In the 3 years from 2020-2022, in the face of the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Education Trade Union was the core force in directly and effectively implementing epidemic prevention and control measures. The Trade Union promptly supported 26 teachers affected by the epidemic with a total amount of 13 million VND; supported the epidemic prevention vaccine fund with a total amount of over 3.7 billion VND; participated in supporting workers in the South affected by the epidemic under the program of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor with an amount of 1.092 billion VND and supported the frontline against the epidemic with 138.5 million VND.
Social security and humanitarian charity activities continue to be of interest to the Industry Union by participating in supporting the Fund for the Poor, supporting the people of the South, supporting the construction of the New Rural Area... Along with that, regularly caring for and visiting cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers in difficult circumstances.
From emulation movements and campaigns, in 5 years, there have been 655 provincial-level topics and initiatives, 20,392 grassroots-level initiatives recognized; 7,455 teachers achieved the title of excellent teachers at the grassroots level, 1,016 teachers achieved the title of excellent teachers at the provincial level ; 2,677 grassroots-level Emulation Fighters; 275 provincial-level Emulation Fighters; 190 topics and initiatives won prizes at the provincial-level innovation contest; 44 topics and initiatives won prizes at the National Technical Innovation Contest; 8 individuals were awarded the Creative Labor Certificate by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; 10 teachers were awarded the title of Excellent Teacher.
In the 2023-2028 term, with the slogan "Innovation, creativity, discipline and unity; for the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers"; the Provincial Education Trade Union continues to innovate the content and methods of operation, build a strong Trade Union organization, perform well its functions and tasks in the new situation; contribute to building a team as a pioneer force in implementing the tasks of building Quang Ninh province into a modern service and industrial province, one of the dynamic and comprehensive development centers of the North.
At the Congress, 11 individuals received the Medal for the cause of Building Trade Union Organizations from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; 6 collectives were awarded Certificates of Merit from the Provincial Confederation of Labor.
After two working sessions (May 26-27), the Congress elected 15 comrades to the 17th Trade Union Executive Committee; 8 comrades to attend the Quang Ninh Provincial Trade Union Congress; 1 official delegate and 1 alternate delegate to attend the Vietnam Education Trade Union Congress.
