On the morning of October 1, the 1st Congress of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030 entered a solemn session.

Presenting the opening speech of the Congress, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Dong Thap Province Le Quoc Phong said: "The 1st Congress of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030 is an event of special significance in the political life of the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Thap Province. The Congress marks a new development stage of Dong Thap Province with the aspiration for breakthrough development in the era of strong development of the country".

According to Dong Thap Provincial Party Secretary Le Quoc Phong, for many months now, in addition to focusing on leading and directing the organization and apparatus arrangement, completing the targets and tasks for 2025 and the entire 2020-2025 term, the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee has focused on leading and successfully organizing the Congresses at the affiliated Party Committees, ensuring the correct procedures, progress and quality.

Party congresses at all levels have truly become extensive political activities, promoting the intelligence and solidarity strength of cadres, party members and people of all walks of life to participate in Party building and orienting the development of localities and units in the new period.

Looking back at the past term, despite being strongly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the negative impact of natural disasters, the Party Committees of Dong Thap and Tien Giang provinces, with high determination, focused on leadership to exceed many targets set out in the Resolution; the scale and speed of economic growth were quite good, the economic structure shifted in the right direction; and investment in physical facilities and socio-economic infrastructure was given attention.

The new rural construction program has achieved practical results; education, science - technology, culture, sports, and people's health care have had many positive changes; social security has been ensured; people's material and spiritual life has been constantly improved; national defense and security have been maintained; social order and safety have been ensured; foreign affairs and international integration have been expanded; administrative reform has changed dramatically; the effectiveness and efficiency of state management have been improved.

Party building work has received special attention; closely, comprehensively and effectively implemented between Party building and rectification. Building a strong Party in terms of political ideology, organization and ethics has achieved many outstanding results in implementing Resolution 4 of the 13th Central Committee, Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the Politburo, regulations on exemplary responsibility of cadres and party members, regulations on controlling power in personnel work and fighting against the abuse of positions and power, fighting against signs of degradation in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, "self-evolution", "self-transformation" within the Party.

"Those achievements are the result of the efforts and struggles, especially the solidarity, determination and responsibility of the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Thap province; this is an important premise and basis for us to confidently enter the first term of the Party Committee after the merger with many requirements, demands and great expectations for the development of Dong Thap," said the Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee.

Besides the successes, Dong Thap Provincial Party Secretary Le Quoc Phong said that there are still many shortcomings and weaknesses with subjective causes that need to be carefully considered and discussed to gain valuable lessons and quickly find solutions to overcome them in the 2025-2030 term.
