On August 19, at the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the United States of America in New York, Ambassador Do Hung Viet, Head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to the United Nations, visited and worked with the leaders of the Communist Party of the United States of America on the occasion of the beginning of his term of office.
The meeting was chaired by Comrade Joe Sims, Co-Chairman of the Party, with the participation of Leaders of the Communist Party of the USA and a number of officials from the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam in New York.
At the meeting, the two sides had an in-depth discussion on the cooperation process between the two Parties, States and peoples of the two countries through historical periods, and shared assessments of the international, regional and domestic situations.
The representative of the Communist Party of the United States expressed his joy and deep impression at the many successes of the Vietnamese Revolution, especially the great achievements in the cause of national construction and development in recent years.
Leaders of the Communist Party of the United States of America Committees affirmed their respect and appreciation for the affection, solidarity and support of the Party, State and Government of Vietnam for friendly countries and peoples around the world .
Thanking the warm welcome of the leaders of the Communist Party of the United States, Ambassador Do Hung Viet expressed his joy to visit on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution.

Ambassador Do Hung Viet affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always remember and are grateful for the support of the Communist Party and the people of the United States in the struggle for independence and national reunification, as well as in the current process of national development. At the same time, they always value and wish to further develop the friendly and cooperative relationship with the Communist Party of the United States.
On this occasion, the Ambassador informed about Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements, shared some of Vietnam's major development directions and goals in the coming time. The Ambassador emphasized that Vietnam is determined to build an independent and self-reliant economy, actively integrate deeply into the international community and continue to persevere in its foreign policy of independence, diversification and multilateralization, in which Vietnam wishes to be a friend and trusted partner of all countries, for peace , cooperation and development.
The two sides agreed to increase theoretical exchanges, youth exchanges, and connect workers’ and peace movements between the two countries. The Communist Party of the United States expressed its desire to send more delegations to visit Vietnam, especially youth delegations, to directly learn about the practice of building socialism in Vietnam.
