Behind the 'tiny' Toyota 86 of a billionaire

With an estimated fortune and supercar garage worth nearly 100 billion VND, many people will be surprised to know that Cuong Do-la's real joy lies in a much smaller sports car: the Toyota 86.

Not only did he buy it, he also spent hundreds of millions of dong and in just three months to turn this car into a real work of art.

He bought the car in February, when it had only run over 1,000km, and the deal was quickly closed after just 1 hour of posting it for sale. His investment in the 86 was not focused on flashy looks, but on high-performance upgrades to bring a valuable driving experience, bringing the car to the level of a true sports car.

The list of accessories is impressive: Rays TE37 S-Plus 18″ wheels painted in a cool bronze gold, GRMN Master Nurburgring Limited Edition six-piston brakes commonly found on racing cars, famous Ohlins Road & Track forks from Sweden for stability and smoothness, along with super high-performance tires.

Not only that, the Tomei titanium exhaust and titanium header not only improve the sound but also reduce weight, increase power, and create a characteristic "breathing sound" when accelerating.

Armaspeed carbon engine cover in the engine compartment both increases aesthetics and effectively prevents heat.

With its compact dimensions (4,240 mm long, 1,775 mm wide, 1,320 mm high, 2,570 mm wheelbase), 2+2 fastback shape and aerodynamic design, the original 86 was sporty.

After being “lightly modified” with the front bumper, rear diffuser, and detailed light clusters, the car becomes even more sporty, neat, and mature. The sophisticated exterior combined with high-performance accessories makes the car stand out at night, unobtrusive but still noticeable.

The original 2.0-liter FA20 I4 direct-injection engine produced 204 horsepower and 212 Nm of torque, combined with a 6-speed manual transmission, for acceleration from 0-100 km/h in about 7.6 seconds.

But with high-end accessories like Ohlins forks, GRMN brakes, and Rays wheels, the car has gone beyond a regular sports coupe. It becomes a quality custom, quick to respond, precise cornering, smooth acceleration, and most importantly, the sound of the titanium exhaust every time the revs increase.

Notably, Cuong Do-la took the 86 to experience it in a secret place and kept it a secret even in front of his wife, Dam Thu Trang. This action shows a carefree style of playing with cars, not fussy about showing off, and especially appreciates the unique driving experience.

While many car enthusiasts look to supercars to show off their value or class, Cuong chooses simplicity, focusing on personal emotions.

As a pioneer in understanding and accessing rare models early since the first Lamborghini Gallardo in 2007, with this Toyota 86, he once again proves that his passion lies not only in brand value, but also in driving experience, upgrading, and personal freedom.

The 86 is not just a car, but also a symbol of the profound car playing style of the mountain town tycoon.
